I cant believe that they will pay $12,000 for that.

The owner said that restored it is worth $35,000. Not with an NOM from a 65 Vette its not.

You would be surprised at what they are getting for C2 cars that are in pi$$ poor shape. I agree 12K is high but they are commanding high $$$.

Have you priced parts and labor costs lately? Plus this will hardly be an original, unhit car when it's finished. Nor does it have a bunch of desirable options. Even if you do all your own work (including painting), your labor is worth something. I do believe the buyer will have far more into this car than if he or she had just bought that a non-original one that was in good condition.

Y'all don't understand the C2 market at all if you think someone's getting screwed. It would be a steal at 12k.

The bare frame and birdcage with VIN is worth more than 12K

Considering what that car would be worth as a NOM driver, I don't think $12K is bad.

… when a friend paid $40k for a NOM '63 with no options, at Carlisle this summer, I knew that the top had blown off of C2 prices.

Good luck… GUSTO

Its more than I would pay. There were less C2s built than C3s which helps as far as resale value. How many times has a beat up C3 been posted on the forum and the response is typically 'someone has to rescue that car'. This C2 may also cost more to repair than its worth. The person buying it hopefully knows what he is getting into.

It would not be wise to just base this purchase on what the market is...but..another mans junk is anothers treasure...

Which indicates that I, for one, obviously don't understand it, and would best stay away from it. That's amazing.

Hey, John, your PM is full. You need to empty it out.

That car might well be worth $40K if done right.

Only problem is it would probably cost another $40K to get it done right. LOSER!!!

Tough to say. If the engine and tranny is rebuilt it might be worth it.

A crate engine is 5-10K, a tranny is a K.
There's 12K of parts there for someone rebuilding a C2.
