I've heared that the differences are minimal but the Air Gap is supposed to be slightly better...

The Air Gap will give you a cooler charge, but I believe it's also taller...

Default air gap

I have the air gap on a 76 L-82. Only room for the mesh/foam Edelbrock
air cleaner on a Edelbrock carb. No underhood isulation. Stock hood.

Default RPM, torque; RPM Gap higher revs

The Gap gives you more horsepower and higher rpm. But, it is a hood clearance issue. The RPM will give you better low end torque, but runs out of air flow in the 6000s. If you can live with no clearance and a little pretend breather, you can get max horses out of the Gap.

You can always go to solid engine mounts to get more clearance. I did this on my old Chevelle, worked fine.
