Default Think twice before buying from VANACOR (pic's are in)

I am doing a customers car now, and adding a vanacor stinger hood.
I have heard many complaints about them, and thier hoods. When they
were at the Houston corvette EXPO, I seen thier products, alot of it
looks great, but thier hoods are FREAKIN WAY OFF in every way
this hood needs MANY, MANY hours or wok!, and the fitment is
way off in everyway. The area that suppose to be flat, looks like the
ocean . Just wanted to let ya'll know.

I will post pic's within an hour

I,m glad someone else has noticed the poor quality of Vanacors work. I recently ordered a 69 front clip and it was awful enough to spend money on shipping to send it back. The entire passenger side of the clip had the mold gap still showing with a 3/16" offset between sections. Diane at Vanacor told me that was the way it was supposed to be and if I didnt like it to send it back on my on cost. So I did - Screw Vanacor.

If you decide to sell it, I'm first in line. I've got plenty of time to sand. Please turn off the *****, it's to hard to read with those distractions.

Wow, I can't believe that the hood would be THAT wavy. I have always heard that you need to fit it to you car, but that is ridiculous!

I am almost in a position to order my L-88 hood, but now I will have to re-think who I order from.

Thanks for posting this! Saved me from that kind of headache. Hopefully you can get it worked out, or get a refund.

That is weird that you would get such a messed up hood while Dude here on the forum raves about how good his hood is from there. Maybe it is the age of the molds?

Did anyone ever think that our C-3's are glued together from three upper front parts and then glued down to two inner fenders and the cowl at the rear? So many variables,so much room for a dimension to move just a little.

I wonder if the factory kinda wet fit the front to the hood to get it into alignment? and here we are trying to do it in reverse..........

Here is a good proposition for someone, Manufacture an in-expensive C-3 hood with a cost plus freight returned and free freight to return it if doesn't fit!

i have ordered every part for my car (front and rear bumpers, wiper compartment cover, hood, rear skirts, and wing) from vanacor's and have yet to have a real problem. in fact, i ordered them all at diferent times over a period of about 3 years, so timing isn't the issue. yes, i had to fit all my parts, within reason, but that is the nature of the beast.

here's a question for the fiberglass layers on here:
how can this hood be wavy like this and the other guy posted that his hood was ready to sand and paint. - they had to come from the same mold. what are the variables?

also - note that vanacor's hoods are only $425. everywhere else they cost AT LEAST $100 more. I've seen hoods for $800.

Okay...now that we've heard both Pro and Con, it's likely there are quality control issues. That's the most logical explanation of the inconsistent nature of their products.

I keep waiting for that girl's bikini top to come flying off

I have had a similar bad experience with Vanacor. I purchased a rear filler exhaust panel that was junk. They did refund the parts cost but I was out $50 shipping and handling for both directions. The cost of experience isn't cheap

I had no problem with my recent Vanacor hood purchase or the product itself. Sorry to hear you might have gotten a "bad" one.

Perhaps you could return it for another one? Have you called them about this? They're very helpful on the phone.

Same here, I'm purchased 2 hoods from them in the past with no waves or fit problems. Sounds like you just got a bad hood.
