I am interested in buying this car. The dealer states there is no paperwork. It is the owner's personal car. I ask because I respect the opinions on this forum. Thanks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-...#ht_500wt_1182
Other than some ticky tack details, it looks nice and nothing stands out as being a fake. not sure what you mean there is no paperwork, assume you mean no protecto plate and tank sticker
Looks pretty good to me...paperwork trail is really only necessary if you are buying it for investment purposes...if for fun, it seems like a nice car...with a starting bid of 78k and 8 hours to go, if you are not sure (i.e. you haven't been to see the car and look over the birdcage, if you haven't driven it, etc.), I would note the sellers info and contact them by email, giving you name and address for contact in case they don't sell. You know about how much they want for the car, maybe if no eBay sale, they might come down some. Good luck. Nick
There's a couple of things that don't look right. The ID #11414 would be a February car. The trim tag date in the upper left looks like G20 which would be in July. It also says 407BP. For Red interior is should be an ''R'', not B.
I've seen this car around and they were asking 115k for it, also if it's the same car, one of the half shaft's was from a small block (no bb cap on one side). They may have corrected that or I have the wrong car. I tried to see it in the pic but could not make it out. I would look into that! KC

No, that is incorrect. G20 is February 20, 1967. "BP" is a correct ECL for red vinyl interior with C07, but excludes A31, A82, A85, M35. VIN 11414 shows and estimated build date of February 20, 1967. There is no anomaly there.
This car has been for sale for a very long time. I was about to look at it last spring but purchased my 67 Goodwood Green 390 with tank sheet for much less money instead.
This car definitely does not have a tank sheet, POP, shipper, window sticker, or any other docs. I have not inspected it personally, but can make some observations from the pictures:
1) "Burn me down" K-mart fuel line
2) Heavy pitting on the frame cross member under the trans suggest a frame (and perhaps birdcage) that was highly rusted before restoration. Look very closely at these areas.
3) Trim tag needs to be examined against the examples in Al Grenning and Roy Sinor's book. A real-deal red/red 67 big block car in strong driver condition should bring more money than they are asking. I have a feeling the tag may be a replacement....
If I were interested in this car, I would want a much better look at that block pad. Bring a camera and a flashlight, take a few high res pics from straight on all up-close and personal like, and then blow them up on you PC when you get home. Amazing the things that you can see,
Also check the fuel line from the frame to the pump. The correct big block fuel line makes a right angle turn from the frame, rather than the more tapered turn of the small block cars. To change the fuel line, you have to lift the body.
