Default 1964 project car for sale

1964 originally a factory air car, four speed convertible silver blue exterior with dark blue interior. The car is a rolling project less motor and transmission. The body is overall in very good condition with great fit. It does have the soft top that also needs complete restoration. The frame is solid with no visible rot anywhere but does have a lot of surface rust. The car needs complete restoration. It has been sitting since 1970 in South Texas, most of the time indoors. I believe that it has alway's been a Texas car. I have a clear Texas Title. This car would make a great Father and Son project. The car has a lot of potential. Email me at deejaydu@sbcglobal.net for pictures. If you have questions or want more detailed information I prefer to speak by phone. I can be reached at 713-253-0475. Jay
$17,500.00 OBO

The car has been Sold ---- Mods please remove my ad. Thanks

Jerry, thank you for posting my pictures. It is serial # 10,009 not #9. There are two ones in the VIN.

Thanks again

Default Serial # tag...

How is the serial # tag affixed to the cross member? Looks almost like it is spot welded. I'm not overly farmilar with C2's although I would love to be .

The serial number tag is spot welded from the factory through 64 production. The factory started to rivit VIN numbers starting with 65 production. The VIN number is original to the car. You can see the marks where they preped the Z bar for spot welding the VIN. It is more visible on this car because it has spent some limited time outside and has developed some surface rust in that area. I hope that this helps.

Default Thanks for the clarification...

Yes, it does help - thank you. As I said, I'm a C3 owner but have been trying to find a way to become, through ownership, more familiar with C2's.

Jay - That project looks better every time I see more photos of it. Good price on a good project. As I told, if I hadn't bought the 65 coupe project I'd be there to snag one!

Hello Mark I hope that all is going well with you. Like you said this is really a great project car for someone to build the way they would want to be able to drive and enjoy it. I priced it for a quick sale and I have had a lot of interest but it is still available as of now. I really want a forum member to buy and build it.

Thanks for the bump

Hey Jay, I've been busy stripping paint from the 65. Guess I need to get a few pics posted to show how clean the body is under all that ugly paint. I'm sure your 64 vert would look even better stripped bare of that dead paint. Let me know if you get into the Dallas area, come check out the 65. Wife is still upset she is parking outside again this winter, but hey, projects need to be inside this time of year.

Good luck with the sale. That car is going to make an awesome project for someone.

I have a dumb question, is the serial number the reason that the price of this vehicle in this condition is as high as it is ?

Nope, the serial number is 10,009 not #9 see above. The price takes into account the condition of the car. I checked all of the midyear projects that I could find before I posted, and priced it less than any of them.

Hello Count, you are right. It is a very solid car for a very good price. Someone can build a great car around a budget that fits them and enjoy doing it. I really hope that a Father/Son team buy it so that we can introduce a new younger generation to this great hobby. thanks again for the words of support. Jay

Great solid project car... looks like a very good start for someone without getting deep into their pockets right off the bat.

Good luck on your sale. Bruce

Hey Sting, I have more to the car than what is shown in the pictures. I have a detailed email that I have forwarded to many listing what is included and what is missing along with condition. Grey Ghost posted my pictures and he also has the email. I will ask him to post the email if he can. Jerry if you read this I would appreciate it if you could post the email also. Thanks for the bump Sting.
