Default looking at 66 427 kentucky

does anyone know of this guy or had any dealings with a guy in richmond kentucky who has red/red 66 loaded 427 on ebay right now #110453974647. Seems like and honest guy and honest car? after talking with him but I am three states away and was just curious if anyone had any feedback as he normally has quite a few high end cars on ebay and is there anyone in this area south of lexington who might check it out for me? thanks!

I would not buy a car with factory air that did not work because you could spend a couple thousand getting it to work. If he said it just needs a shot of freon, why doesn't he just do it himself? Those old factory air parts are next to impossible to get. JMO

Agreed, whether it is a classic or a current car. Many ads say air not working or air is warm, needs freon. But what happens is you need a compressor, dryer, and much more. And my experience is putting a typical rebuilt compressor on is like a short term patch. So you have $700 - $1000 usually in fixing "warm" AC in a current car. In a classic, you need to get all the old parts and that can be expensive.

if this is a true big block car and it is a true nice car. Believe me if he bought it as that he can affaird to fix it, and not even do a stsatment like the car needs this. Just my 2 cents....

I had to read this again and rethink this. Yes, I agree the part about the "just needs recharged" as being an instant problem of $1000 or $2000 very quickly, BUT .....

AC wasn't all that great on these cars.

Many people were more concerned about performance, not luxury and AC.

Sometimes we forget that while the car may be worth $50,000 or $100,000 today, the owner may have well spent only $4000 or $10,000 when they bought it and so confronted with a $2000 bill could really stretch their resources.

Otherwise, you wouldn't find all these project cars that have been sitting for 10 or 20 years. Putting $30,000 into an $80,000 finished car should not be a problem, right? Well, if you bought it for $5000 and that stretched your resource, then $30,000 is far beyond your means.

So if you are looking for a real factory AC car, I wouldn't let it NOT working stop you. However, you have to weigh all of this into the price you pay. If his price is well below an equivalent car with everything working, then you may have found a deal.

I never buy a car, especially a vintage corvette without flying out and checking car for myself. There are way to many opinions on what is excellent condition and what does numbers matching mean.I have also been fooled many times by pictures.I have flown and checked out 10 midyear corvettes the last 4 months and not one has been even close to sellers description. Plus, almost all were only matching numbers block and known of the other components matched. Most of the cars I have seen, just seem to have been made up and dont appear real. You have to fly and see car for yourself. Good luck.

Yeah, I've dealt with him. If you notice, he will put the nice cars in front of a nice house and neighborhood and put his p.o.s. cars at his p.o.s. dealership for photos. I believe he uses a couple of IDs for different transactions but you will notice if you dig in the feedback a 71 at his dealership that is a turd.
I purchaced a starter vette from him when I was no so smart on midyears. He said that paint would make it a 40k car. Well I have put 20k into a 28k car and have yet to paint it.
He has some nice stuff but he wheels and deals junk too. He is in this to make money. Be very leary of what they tell you. nuff said. Bob
