The person selling is asking for $77K firm.
Deal or No Deal?
Is it a orininal black/black car. Make sure the trim tag has not been changed. You are paying a premium for a black car. If it's a real car with correct carb, intake, heads, ETC & the interior & body are done right I think it's a fair price. It would cost 40,000 to 50,000 to restore if you found one for less money that needed a lot of work. Add the price you would pay for the car + restoration costs you would be better off buying a done car. If you would have to sell the car in the next 2-3 years for 77K you would have a hard time getting your money back.

I am glad you are keeping your Corvette. When you said you going to have it apraised I thought you were having second thoughts or I would have pointed the guy your way. If it were my car I would have a hard time selling it. The pictures you sent me of the car were great. I know there is buyer remorse but there ie also sellers remorse.

I have hired someone to inspect the car. Should have a report by Monday.
No docs with the car.
It is not an original black car. Was maroon before.
Deal or No Deal?
RUN LIKE THE WIND I would get it touch with STRAYDOG & try & get him to change his mind. His car was a hell of a deal for the money he was asking & it's a real black/black big block Corvette.

Another question, what would a 66 big block convertible be worth, if it did have the doc's?
Thanks!!
Ask him. You need to check with him. I would send the pictures he sent if he want's me to. If a car has a original trime tag for a black car it's very importent. Call if you need to ask anytheng else.

Ken, thanks so much for you encouragement. I might just shoot Stray a pm and ask!
Thanks for the those two web sites. Very helpful indeed.
According to the Nada guide, with the few options this car has: 427, teak steering and what looks like the knock off wheels, the spread is:
Low Med High
$64,440 $109,230 $162,995
So, let me make some assumptions.
Not many, if any, docs = you really do not know what the history or details of the car are. Is it the right engine, or just one that is from the same year. Are the options right on the car, or have they added some over time.
Apparently, the car's original color was not tuxedo black. So this is a big stinger in terms of price, but not in terms of appeal. Will it haunt me down the road, or will someone else appreciate the car for its look and color and be willing to let it go.
Given the range, I'd have to say this car falls squarely in the low to mid range. Perhaps the 77 is not far off, even with the wrong color on it.
