I'm hoping to find a documented 427/425 original NM 66 convertible. If NOM, must be documented car. Must be realistically priced for condition.(can't turn a wrench, so no projects please) Please no dealers that just bought a car at BJ and marked it up 40% just for me. I am patient but hopefully I won't set a new forum record for time needed to find the "right"car. I am, in fact, vetteless in San Diego .
Thanks. Craig
I was looking at this the other day. The feedback I get about Contes seems to be good.
Bruce, thanks for the lead. I talked to Mrs. Conte today, will get more information tomorrow. Has anyone else seen this car, know of it or had
any dealings with Conte Corvettes ?
Craig
I owned that red 427/425 HP vert. car that Joe Conte has for sale at his NJ dealership. I bought it from him around '98 and sold it back to him around '01. Very nice restored car, the car was done in the early '90's. NCRS top flight in '93 at Cypress Garderns. You can PM me if interested in any specifics if you are intersted in that car.
If you have an interest in an original and unrestored, GM documented and low mileage L72, I may be interested at this time to let it go. With all due repect, I am not interested in a hassle about price. Restored L72s are quite easy to find but you will look for a very long time before you come across another unrestored L72 like this one. Drives like a dream... if you can say that about an L72. Below is a thread from last fall with pictures and some more information.

Vipervic,
Is that an original engine L72? Just in the pics there are several easy to spot issues with the restoration and NCRS judging. Maybe changed since you owned it. Nice looking though.
You hit the nail on the head, it is a beatuifully "restored" '66, but it has absolutely no documentation with it, so IMHO that really hurts the cars value. When I owned it, the restotation was around 5 years old, with ~700 miles since it was done. I wanted to drive the car when I had it, but it was obvious that it probably hadn't run in years. When I first started it, gas was leaking all over the place from the carb., the timing was way off, the gas smelled like varnish, etc. I did a number of things to make it over the road enjoyable. The engine was a bear, would not run right unless you added 10 gallons of Sunoco 100 octane every fill up. Is it a built car from a 327/300?? Maybe/maybe not. It does have a NCRS Blue ribbon, but that was from '93, don't know whether the recent owners showed it or not. So who ever steps up to buy it, you're buying the cosmetics, which 10 years ago was worth half what they're asking now.
looks like a nice car but when the guy that owned says he is not sure if it is real or not and there is no documents the car would have to be much cheaper

there is guy locally who has a very original, documented 425hp laguna blue vert. The car was owned for over 30yrs by a past owner. The previous owner used to show it every year at the chapter NCRS show.I judged the car a few times, high second flight or low top flight.Car is very real.Looks good from 5 feet but old paint is not very good.I think that the owner might be interested. He is the local vette guru around here.
