Default Looking for my old coupe

Hi all,
This is probably a wild goose chase, but I'm trying to find my 66 coupe. It's highly modified, with bumpers and windshield mouldings finished in body color (Guards Red). Therer are Autometer gages inset in the dash, and the seats are from a later model year C3. Wheels are 17" Billet Specialities and the hood is the ZL1 design. When I sold the car it had 2 600 edlebrocks for carburetion. The serial number on the car was issued by Wisconsin as a recovered theft vehicle.
The last I knew this car was located in the area of Spring Lake Michigan, but that was 10-12 years ago. The car was a regular at the Vette Fest in Chicago, winning best modified Corvette at least twice. I'd just like to see if it's still around and if it might be for sale back to it's "Daddy".
Thanks!!

It seems like I remember seeing one like that on eBay about a year ago. Of course, that doesn't help today.

The trick is to post the VIN and keep searching. If you are an NCRS member, you can put an ad in monthly with the VIN.

I have some of mine in a search on eBay. I actually found my first one.

item=330093118527

Unfortunately, I didn't have a spare $150,000 laying around to buy it back with.

Yeah, this wont be easy after 14 years, but its worth a shot. The biggest issue is I believe the car was re-issued another vin somewhere along the way. If I can find some way to post an old pic of the car, I will. I'm not sure if I even have any negatives left.

I know where my other old vette is. I had a 1972 LT1... 40,000 mile original paint, interior, engine, etc. that I traded to D&M Corvette in Downers Grove for the 66 Coupe and a bucket of money. The last I knew it was still in the owner's basement with the rest of his collection. It won the Vette Fest best stock Corvette in 1990 and was a showcase car a few years later.

Funny story... when it was in the Showcase, D&M had a placard up stating that the frame-off restoration was completed in his shop. Everyone knew the car and knew that I had done the restoration of the chassis in my garage, and called him on it. When I asked him why he had stated that, he said it was a "typo". LOL. My wife then informed him that was ok, she had scratched out the "typo" and corrected the info on the placard. He laughed, but as soon as we left his display, he ran over to the showcase to check to see if she had actually done that.
