I have a friend that is looking for a C1 or C2 project car. Prefer Vert but would take a coupe if price is right. Prefer 58-67 let me know what you got.
There has been a lot of interest in my 62 resto rod Corvette. If you are serious please send me your phone number and I will call you, there are too many details for me to type.
Thanks,
Wade
Mike, I went and looked at the 56 again today. Got a good look this time, as he had moved it into his "front" garage room. man, it needs lots of work to be pretty again. He told me he is missing one seat, the hub caps, the springs on the hood release/catch thingy, the oval around the grill and the dual 4 carb air cleaners. The tranny isnt orginial, its now a 4 speed instead of the 3 speed it came with. He still has both tops..he say he has one seat belt that was an option back then (?) The hood has two cutouts in it from scoops put on it some years back. The car was a blue color and I saw some red trim, but dont know if thats "bubba" stuff or not. One of the tags on the dual 4s read 2362s , I think thats the numbers I saw anyway. he told me he has had the car since 57 or so and thats why he so bent on keeping it. I ,of course, do not have the cash to flash,so its a mute point for me. He also stated that he has lots of c1 and c2 parts in that garage of his. I believe him, its stacked plum full of old car stuff..BB tri power air cleaners, kick panels, seat belts ect.ect. I did see a Teak steering wheel off a c-2 hanging on a nail on the wall.( think it was one of the plastic ones) Lots of work on this one. Funny, as I was looking at the funny (early)water pump, I noticed the obvious..the thing has front motor mounts..jeeze,I felt like an idiot after connecting the dots. No rust issues that I could see. Been stored indoors too,for gosh knows how long, but he said he drives it evey now and then around his farm/property.
thanks for some of the post about project cars. My friend is looking to spend $20K or less. I told him GOOD LUCK but I just thought I would let you all know so you would not waste your time. I don't think he will find it but who knows.
I'm seriously considering a restored '64 convertible.
Is anyone available in the Carbondale, Illinois, area to check out the numbers and condition? Thanks.
I'm kind of in a time crunch on this one.
Mike, not to Hi- jack this thread, but I have gotten a few back channel messages about this post/56 car.
(A)The car isnt mine. (B) its located S.W. of Indianapolis, on
hi-way 67. Its between Mooresville and Martinsville,on the west side of the road, after "39" and before the martinsville turnoff. There is a model A, 5 window coupe sitting on a model A truck,in the yard, at the dirt road leading to his property. Go talk to him. (c) I gave him the addy for this forum, tho he says " my wife does all that computer stuff".
No,i dont have a telephone number nor the address. thank you.
sorry Mike, that post wasnt aimed at you. The number on the mailbox is 2420 and will be on the right hand side going south, towards martinsville, from Mooresville. just drive back to his "barn/workshop", he is usually in there messing/ tinkering around.
In response to ghoastrider's post, Dennis Powell is the owner of the car on SR67 north of Martinsville. I grew up there, Dennis is a nice guy, been into Corvettes and classics for as long as I can remember. I drove by there a few weeks ago, he really has accumulated a bunch of cars sitting there. I doubt if the car can be bought but you never know, money talks, BS walks!!! Good luck Mike Terry!!

Look at e-bay 330185796389. Decent 56 project, it has met reserve at $25k. Beautiful Arctic Blue color....I am not associated in any way with the car or the listing, just trying to help with info.
