Looking for a C1 basket case. Need something that has proper vin Id! Shoot me a PM if anyone has or knows of one for sale. I don't care about a numbers matching engine or if no engine at all. Doing a resto mod but need to start with something.
I too was looking for a C1 basket case last year. I ran across a guy around Louisville, KY, that usually has a barn full of really rough old Vettes and parts. He has advertised in Hemming's which is where I saw his ad and called about a few C1s. His name is Mike, 859-358-0647. The prices I saw were around $21,000 - $29,900 for a basket case.
Another place - Valley Auto, Bedford, PA, 814-623-7813
just a word of caution regarding Mike in Kentucky mentioned by Tomo67...a friend of mine put a deposit on a car, went back about 10 days later with the balance to pick the car up to find that Mike had sold it !!! Mike tried to tell him it was a different car they had agreed on. anyway the car he planned to buy was gone, he was forced to choose another or say good bye to his sizable deposit which Mike was not willing to return.
I would like to thank Ryan22 for that information. I was never quite sure about Mike but never got to the point where I was ready of make him an offer. I was going to pay an NCRS expert to look at the '59 he was selling before I would give him any money, but I found a much better one through this Forum.

He should have extracted his front teeth and then asked if he wanted to do a swap.

I bought my 58 from him. He took pictures of the car and sent them to me but didn't show the messed up front bumper or the missing center crossmember. I should have asked more questions but at the time I didn't know much. The thing that really bothered me was that he said if I ran across any vettes he'd give me a $250 finder's fee. Well I found him a 54 that HE BOUGHT and said that he didn't. The reason I know he bought it is that the owner told me who bought it and how he paid for it. Oh well Live and Learn!!!
One more thing....before I sent him a deposit I did mention that the car didn't have many parts with it. He stated that he had several parts in his loft and that he'd throw them in. Once I got there and mentioned that he said he didn't have any extra parts. I'll give him credit on one thing....I told him that the center crossmember was missing and he promised to send me one. I got that in writing....like that would have done any good. And about a month later he sent the center crossmember to me....at least I got one extra part!!!

I bought a junk 58 from him, I was a novice at the time (that is until I found this forum). Had I have known my head from my !ss there is no way I would have bought a car from this Jed. This guy does actually have the cars but I think he pieces them together with junk parts. He sent me the car with a cracked block, bent rusted frame (non matching) and the list goes on. BUYER BEWARE, if you must buy from him go there with money and dont let the car out of you site or leave it and come back to pick it up, know what you are buying and make sure he doesnt swap the parts. Some of this is my fault for being a novice but he in my book is a professional rip off artist.
