Default stamp pad numbers

The 63 swc item number 200109302146 on ebay has a dropped down final digit on the pad pic. Does this look like a factory alignment? Thanks Dean

The last two digits in the 3108800 look a little

Is this even the right number for a 63 327/300HP? I'm no pad expert by any means, but wasn't 63 327 numbers 3782870, 3789817, 3794460 or 3830944?

Looked at Mor-Tec.

Are you confusing casting numbers with VIN derivatives? I suspect so . . .

Not a good enough pic to make a call on the above auction but I do not like the alignment of those numbers. I am sure someone with a car in a nearby vin should have the same abnomality

Oops.... sorry.

Yeah I got a little confused, didn't I.

But still, the casting numbers at Mor-Tec don't show the 3108800 for 63 327. Maybe I'm reading it wrong though.

3782870 is the casting number for a 1963 327 in a Corvette.

Thanks oWen, I guess I'm not as stupid as it appeared.

So then this 63 is not an original 327 with the 3108800 number....

Rich,
3108800 is the VIN derivative stamped on th engine pad. If the casting # of the block is 3782870 and 3108800 is the number on the VIN Tag under the glove box, then it is matching numbers, albeit it may be a restamp.

Rich,

No more for you. Must have had a few too many or forgot to share! I have an excuse due to my senior moments.

OOPS, see I just had one of those senior moments. You are EXACTLY 2 years older than me. Guess we belong to the same club!

Yes thats the Vin The whole VIN-is 30837S108800

I am the owner of the car in question. I know that pad is correct and have seen far worse factory stamps than this one.

Also i have been dealing with Corvette Mike for over 20 years and have become real good friends over the years and i sent pics of the stamp to him before i purchased the car just to get a second opinion and he said they looked to be of factory quality.

So your saying its a restamp. And you are coming up with this how now? Because the numbers are not lined up perfectly. Huh you might want to call a few corvette restorers and ask them if ALL the numbers on every car are perfectly stamped. Call Corvette Mike, Naber Brothers in Texas and if you want ask Gary if The Guys at Muscle Cars Northwest know anything about corvettes

This is not about all the numbers on every car. This is about responding to a question asked based on looking at pictures.

Oh ok. I do not care there's always going to be people to doubt a car. I guess if anyone wants to buy the car they should come look at it for themselves and make their own decision.

I have seen plenty of cars with numbers worse than this and i bought them from the original owner.

Never heard of Aetna Springs, sounds like an Insurance Company location. Calistoga is about 30 miles from the coast and very nice. Wine country area. Nice mild weather. About 1 1/2 hours from me.

Default stamp pad number

I have been in the corvette business buying, selling and restoring since 1973 so I may have a little experience-just a little! The engine ID portion of the pad looks looks real good, very original, font looks good also. The VIN portion with the last digits-HMMM, I believe someone found a block Very close in vin and restamped. Yes, I know there are factory screwups but they are very rare and generally show as strikeovers, not like this one-I will put serious money (my 71 LS-6 conv) this is a repop.

There we two threads posted and they were cross threads and they referred to different cars but the threads were the same so the the guy who posted them changed the postof one to make it better but mistakenly changed the wrong post and now it's even harder to see the original post unless you are looking at both of them at the same time.....

get it?

See, I cleared up this whole mess..........
