I bet these questions have been asked thousands of times, but please bear with me:
Are many still available without having to mortgage your soul?
How important to the value of the car is it to have "matching numbers"?
How would the value be affected by painting it a different color than it originally was?
What do I do to check it out if a car I find appealing turns up a half a continent (or more) away?
Is this forum the best way to find one? (For example, the ones I see on EBay seem pretty pricey).
Thanks for any help you folks can give me!

HI: I own a 63 SWC. It is not an original color, it is not a matching numbers car and I love it.
Here are my answers to your questions.
1. NO
2. To me it doesn't matter one bit. To others, it is the holy grail.
3. To me, paint it what ever color you want. To the purists, to change from original color is herasy.
4. You want to save money, look in your own back yard. Usually you will NOT save money by traveling half a continent or more away. You might find that perfect car a long way from home but is sounds like you are not looking for that NCRS Top Flight car. That is the one you will find half a continent or more away. Your money, your choice.
You asked about checking out a car a long distance away. Check out the NCRS forum and you will find a bank of knowledgeable persons that will help you out and give you an honest perspective as the NCRS members are all about the pure hobby.
5. This forum is a great database of knowledge. You might find the car you are looking for here. Your might not. You can check out E-Bay for ideas. I don't know if you will find what you want there or not. Check out your local paper, the auto trader, etc. Contact on every one you see for a couple of months. That will give you an idea of what is out there. Then you can figure out what you want to do.
Best of luck with your search.
