Hi, I have a complete Hurst shifter ( shifter body, arms, rods and mount ) that I removed from a 61 vette race car that I have re-doing. I have raced this car for the owner and it works well, but when racing, every tenth or even a hundredth of a second counts. I personally did not like it because it is not Perfect, Perfect in my opinion. We decided to put a new complete Hurst shifter it the car.
As you must have found out, Hurst no longer lists a shifter for early corvettes with Muncies and if a number comes up it is for a 63-67. After trying to get a shifter through Hurst, none of the parts were correct for C1 vettes.
Any way I worked my way through Hurst to Atlantic Speed with Scott ( A Hurst expert Guy ) to get a Perfect shifter for the C1 vettes with a Muncie for the custom M23 race transmission going into the same 61 vette race car. Two slight modification still have to be done. Cost was about $550.
The shifter for sale ( not the correct new shifter ) requires it to be pushed left, push hard down and pushed left even more, then into reversed. Stupid Gov. Rules back then I guess.
Picture below. $75 plus shipping Jim
Picture of the correct shifter.
