Can someone tell me how I go about this search ?

Here are my tags:

Thanks,

what I would do, is first find where the car came from, and then search the craiglist ads/kijiji ads for motors in that area for sale, or put your own post "looking for a 327 engine" (obvioulsy leave your vin# out of the ad!!lol)

Good luck!!
I may have found mine..just waiting on the numbers...pipe dream? Yes! but its fun!!!

A VIN tag with no rivets and tool marks looks suspicious. Are you sure if you find the engine that matches the VIN that it also matches the body? Any history on the car? Where it was purchased new, etc? If so, you may be able to track down owners and see where the motor went.

Thank you 56. Looks like a good vin plate to me also. Was good to go get Nolands book out and reread the vin plate installation process just to refresh my memory though.

To the OP - while you are out looking for the original engine, see if you can find the pieces of fenders and hood that are missing also...

Not to be a pessimmist - but why bother? Just find a date coded block and have it punched if it is that important to you. Not like you have a L88 or something.
