Default Lead hammer practical

Does anyone have a recommendation for a practical lead hammer for knock off wheels? The original is not so great.

forget the lead hammer, use an old piece of tire and a small sledge hammer - much more efficient

Vref,
You can purchase the same lead hammer the Vette suppliers sell for almost half from MSC 1-800-645-7270 MSCdirect.com
part numbers are:
2 lb. 06619001 $13.21
3 lb. 06619019 $16.42
4 lb. 06619027 $19.29

Default lead hammer

Go to a tool supply store and buy a bigger lead hammer, cut off the longer handle to your desired length. The cost will be a lot less than any "corvette" hammer.

Another solution is to sell your spin on knock offs and buy bolt ons. Much safer, and no need for a lead hammer.

Go to Cobra Valleys web site. They list the one for the Cobra knockoffs and it's a good heavy hammer. Bought one last summer after a few forum members recommended them. Check it out

I hear those spinners on the bolt on wheels are just a pain to remove and replace.

Vref,
I think I used the 2 lb. on my '63, but it's sold now. Wouldn't go over 3 lbs.
