The Steve McQueen c2 would be one a truly amazing find, and based on what his other cars are now worth, would be a big BIG $ car!

I'm with Mike on this one- I remember watching an interview or reading about some history on the Beach Boys, don't remember which, but according to the story told by the guys themselves, in the early days, some of the recording was done on their front porch and they recorded the sounds of a friend's 409 car going by down the street and in front of their house. Don't remember who the interview was with, Carl, Dennis, Brian or Mike Love, but I definitely remember them saying that was what happened.

I bet that car is still out there in some shape and still known. I'm doubtful any SM owned car or motorcycle from the period was sold subsequently without using his name. I could see where it's in disrepair, perhaps, even wrecked, but still around. People are strange, like the guy keeping the Bullitt Mustang in seclusion (in KY, IIRC).

If we are all talking about a Daytona blue car, the car was in CT at one time and belonged to a very good friend of mine. We believe the car is some were in Florida now, low Vin. number car.

I agree also. Riding in Gary's 348, he told Brian he wanted a 409 badly, but would have to save up for it. Brian immediately rhymed time, dimes, etc., with 409 and the song came together easily.

And Brian taped that car with his reel-ro-reel on the sidewalk in front of the Wilson home in Hawthorne, sadly demolished about twenty years ago for the 105 freeway.

Were revvin’ up our engines and it sounds real mean

Tach it up, tach it up
Buddy gonna shut you down

Declinin’ numbers at an even rate
At the count of one we both accelerate
My stingray is light the slicks are startin’ to spin
But the four-thirteen’s really diggen’ in

Gotta be cool now power shift here we go

Superstock dodge is winding out in low
But my fuel injected stingray’s really startin’ to go
I’m gettin’ the traction I’m ridin’ the clutch
My pressure plate’s burnin’ that machine’s too much

Pedal’s to the floor hear the dual quads drink
And now the four-thirteen’s lead is startin’ to shrink
He’s powered by ram induction but it’s understood
I got a fuel injected engine sittin’ under my hood

Shut it off, shut it off buddy now I shut you down
Shut it off, shut it off buddy now I shut you down
Shut it off, shut it off buddy now I shut you down
Shut it off, shut it off buddy now I shut you down

Are these the correct lyrics? It seems difficult to reconcile the dual quads sound with an FI car, and if the song is from the Corvette driver's perspective, would he have been able to hear anything over his own car's noise. Just simple questions being raised now despite having listened to the song for 50 years and never noticing the "dual quad" reference.

Which intake sucks the loudest? 413 cubic inches or 327cubic inches.

Not gonna' tell the whole story again but in 1964, I was riding in the 413 and the FI Stingray was next to my open window. Never could hear the StingRay over the roar of the 413 but the StingRay won, four times in a row.

I should add though that this particular 413 wasn't exactly healthy. Had it been, it would have dusted the StingRay!

That 413 MOPAR must have been missing two cylinders or had a flat rear tire.

I think it's He's LINED with ram induction.

I also think it's TO GET the traction I'm ridin' the clutch.

I agree about "To get the traction" but think the other line is "He's RUNNIN' ram induction".

Well, I guess I need to go out in the shop and turn on the ipod and wait for it to come around again. OF course, my ears aren't what they used to be.
