What do you do with all of the old parts that you pull off???
I just got done with rebuilding and replacing almost everything in the running gear from the rearend forward.. So I have a bunch of stuff that I pulled out of this ole girl... I pretty much have held onto almost all of it b/c I really don't know what is junk and what's not... I have two copper brass radiators (one new and one of unknown age), 65 rad support that I cleaned up the other day only to find that the lower aft section looks like swiss cheese.(what a downer just glad I didn't sell it to someone not know it..) A 65 engine bay harness in good condition... And lots of other odds and ends.. I know I won't make much money but I would hate to throw something away that someone else might need or such.. Just wondering what everyone else does... Dave...

Keep it. Someday you'll need it. I still have parts left over from the '58 I restored in 1975. From time to time I find something I need for another car.

How about original bolts? I have a pile of 'em with various head markings - A,M, etc.... The are all pretty rough and need plating IF they can be reused.

I tend to keep it too - as for my old dash harness, it was a little bubba-d but I have hacked off a connector here and there for fellow C2 owners in need. I suppose I could ebay such things and make some $$ but these are parts from MY car and if I sell it someday to some NCRS top flight seeker he/she will enjoy having the orig. parts. Of course I will never sell it, but ever time I say never I end up eating my words later on.

I keep just about everything that isn't junk and either sell it to other Chapter members, eBay it, or take it to our annual NCRS Chapter Swap Meet; peddled over $1300 worth of stuff I had no use for at this year's swap meet. Even if harnesses are junk, I save ALL the connectors and keep them in my electrical stash.

Corvette Parts
When a part is discovered in the garage,
look out! as I snag it up for Ebay sales
(probably why the title is in the safe that
I do NOT have the combination to.
Don't have any parts on right now but Ebay has
been a great place to help our extra parts find
their way to another Corvette home!

DAve,
I stopped at Ace Hardware almost every day on my way home from work and pretty much cleared out their 3/8" bolts. Ace has a substantial collection of grade 5 and 8 and Stainless steel bolts. I probably dropped $300 on bolts - one of those things you don't think about when you're planning. Live and learn.

I keep everything I replace. Some day if I sell the car the buyer will probably say "you are asking too much for a car that is not original". My reply will be: "Not so, you are not only buying the beautiful car you see, but also all the matching number parts I took off of it that you can have fun replacing if you wish".

Same here. I have the original nose emblem, dimmer switch, rims, hubcaps and such. Keep that stuff for the next owner. You know you will replace the vette with another one.
