Panchop. I bolted the AR Salt Flats on my 66 today with 215 65 15 tires they fit fine. The wheels are 15x6. The car is all stock no flares and stock brakes so I don't know why AR would say they won't fit

I had an e-mail from Ken P. on this subject. I replied but his message service bounced it back. So I will reproduce that reply here. Hopefully he will see it.
I purchased those wheels last winter from the company noted in the site below. They are American Racing Torq Thrust IIs (model CL205) custom made to the 15 x 6" size. The backspacing is 3 3/8" and the offset +1/8". My objective was to get them as close in size to the original ralleys so as to avoid fender rub. And they have curved spokes to clear the calipers. Delivery time was eight weeks. The price was $216 each plus shipping. The spinners are the "Carlisle" model, again from American Racing. I have the "normal" caps as well that come with the wheels. The spinners were $300 a set. The info is available at the web site. The wheels come with powder-coated, grey centres but I chose to paint them black.
I am very happy with the Pirellis. They are Z-rated and a very solid tire. They were strongly recommended by Duke Williams of the NCRS. He wrote a very informative article on C2 performance tires, published in the Spring 2003 issue of "The Corvette Restorer." I purchased them from Tire Rack at $80 each plus shipping.
As to weights, I do not know how much the tires/wheels took but the shop did not encounter any difficulties in mounting them. The weights are on the inside of course for sake of appearance. I am not an aggressive driver but I have run the 1967 up to 100mph and there is no shimmy or shake. Very smooth at all speeds.
Hope these words help!

CorvettJ,
You say no mods but haven't your wheel wells been radiused? They look really large.
Let me know and thanks.

Re: Cool wheels for midyear help (aaronz28)
I agree with the comments about how good the TT with the grey spokes (center) look on the midyears. I have a Glen Green couple and remember in '65 how great they looked on a dark car. I have heard, though, that there are problems with these wheels fitting on a car with disc brakes. I welcome all comments and any suggestions from those who have made the adaption of these wheels to their '65-'67.

dctrip,
These TTII's are neat, especially the polished ones. I ended up buying a set of used, original 60's type AR TT's in a 15x6 size. I'm running Pirelli's like pual67. Click on my sig link for some closeups of them. Mine's a '65, 4 wheel disc car and these wheels were made to clear the calipers, They are machined/notched on the back of the spokes to clear them.

Re: Cool wheels for midyear help (6T5RUSH)
Hi Jim,
Thanks for the input. Your Vette and wheels look great. Do you mean they are machined/notched from the factory or that they have been adapted? Ironically I had a set of those same wheels in 1967 on a '67 Cougar that was the same color as my '65 Coupe, Glen Green.

Re: Cool wheels for midyear help (dctrip)
dctrip,
Yes, the factory actually did the notching (this according to the Wheel Place in San Jose, CA where I bought them. I'm in the middle of finish assembly of my motor (converting from hydraulics to solids). I'll take a couple of pics of these wheels (backside closeup) and e-mail 'em to you.
Give me a day...got to get some zz's.

Jim,
I look will forward to your pics. Other than the original hubcaps that are on the '65, I would only consider the TT that you have. Good luck with your project.

I know this is a picture of my 62, but I also used these Dayton radial lace knock-off wire wheels on my 63 as a bit out of the ordinary so as not to have too many copies or look a likes in the same show or parking lot for distinctive look to set it apart from the others. Ifinally got it straight
