Yeah, I'd like to see one "in the flesh", but there aren't that many FB 62's around here to look at. My wife will probably make the ultimate decision, but then again, she's been known to change her mind after something's done...... :banghead:

Join the red revolution !! In my opinion there are too many red vettes out there.
I'm gonna go back to the original Laguna Blue on the next repaint on mine.

[QUOTE]
Since your halfway there, with the red interior, my advise is go Fawn and it will stand out among all the faded reds, and dull blacks.
Where are you coming from. "dull blacks" I take exception!
Ironcross. Your right I meant no disrespect. Your car is far from dull and is extremely cool. My sincere apologies as jealousy often gets the best of me.
Can anyone produce a photo of a Fawn w/ red interior. I have seen it, love it, and it remains my ultimate dream car.

Ed, I'd stick to red. No offense to any Fawn Beige owners (especially Charles Bernhardt, who's cars I love!) but I've never liked that color for a Corvette. Call me superficial, but it's just not "flashy" enough for a Corvette.
Too many red Corvettes? Besides car shows, when's the last time you've seen any C1, let alone a red one.
One more thought. I think you mentioned a while back you were thinking of Torch Red (the C5 color). Keep in mind that Torch Red has a definite orange hue to it. More so than Flame Red aka Bright Red (C4 Corvette red).
I've seen a Torch Red '61 and it looked incredible. I painted mine Bright Red, but I love Torch Red on a C1, also. I just mention this because you said the color now on your '62 is a little orangey.

I like fawn myself, but agree with those who say leave it as is and drive it for a while. My '59 was originally red, but is currently blue (and judging by the condition of the paint, it's been blue for a while). I'm leaning towards re-painting it just about any '59 color except red when the time comes.

The 1962 Route 66 Vettes were Fawn Beigh. I personally didn`t care for it as and interior color however. 'Resale Red' or black was more common.
I guess except for "Dull Blacks" FB would be ok!

Anyway, I keep seeing references to Fawn Beige that seem to indicate that it is really something special. Is this because of rarity (1800+/- units), or just because it's such an UGLY color?

Ah,Ha! The "RED" guys are starting to show their faces. With all those "too many" red Vettes out there, somebody has to like them. :auto:

If you like red, paint it red. Unless you are going to have your Vette judged, paint it to satisify yourself. After all you are the one who drives it and looks at it the most.

IN the 30+ years that I've owned my almond beige '62 there were a number of times when I thought that if it were red it might have more "flash". Those were fleeting moments in daydreams and in reality my almond beige '62 has never ceased to excite my senses. If you like red go ahead and paint her red and enjoy. Or, you can do what I've done - keep your C1 the original beige and buy a TorchRed Z06 to satisfy that urge for red. Believe me - You won't be disappointed!

JWD01:
I wouldn't say that.
I've always thought that the C1s look better in a wider range of colors than some other Corvette generations (that I won't mention.)

Re: Fawn Fuelie? (NVaVettes)
I have friends that had a FB 61 (270HP, 4 spd.)and a Saddle Tan 64 (300HP, 4 spd., loaded). Both were flawless, trophy winning cars. Both took almost a year to sell and only after reducing the price way below the market average. They had them for sale at "Northwest Corvette & High performance Swap Meet" which is the largest of its kind in the northwest. The most common quote was " It's a beautiful car, if it was only a different color, I would buy it because that is a great price".
I'm not a fan of red but that color car sells better than all the others combined. Baby S--t Brown just doesn't have the appeal.

Re: Fawn Fuelie? (62fuelie)
A friend of mine had one in the seventies, a 62. I usually like the bolder colors - red, black, silver - but for some reason, the FB looks really go to me on a 62. I would probably like it on any C1.
The paint on my friends was not the best at the time as I remember. I would think that FB with clear coat would be really sharp. As far as the interior, I like reds, blues and greens with tan like colors.
But then I like those pink continentals from the early nineties too!

Black or Honduras Maroon are my faves on the '62.
Never liked Fawn Beige before (thought it was too blah)- now I'm starting to like it.
:yesnod:
In my business, I've come to realize that most guys are 'color-challenged', IMHO. They only seem to like bright primaries (red, yellow, blue). And a large % are also color-blind (blue-green).
:yesnod:
just my opinion
BTW- nothing personal, but all Corvettes are red (or so it seems)!
