Corvette Owners have good tastes I am curious so, please give the year and the exact color of 5 non-Corvettes that would go in the garage!

Expense no object choice: 1996 McLaren F1 LM (limited edition) (Orange)
(10 made)
Race bred exotic: 1969 McLaren M6B GT (McLaren Orange also) (3-made)
My other choices: (I might expand this to 10 choices)
1966 Ford GT 40 Mark 1 (Street Version) (Guardsman Blue, White Trim) (31 made)
1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder (Italian Racing Red)(10 made)
1972 Lamborghini Miura SV (Fly Yellow) (59 SV's)

My Corvettes:
1967 L88 Convertible (Tuxedo Black w/white stinger)
1969 ZL1 Coupe (Can Am White w/Black stinger)
1966 Penske #10 Grandsport Roadster
1976 Greenwood #76 LeMans Racer
1959 Thompson #11 Stingray Racer

5 more cars
1963 Apollo GT 5000 Convertible (Blue) (1-made) has Buick aluminum engine and italian coachwork body and buick suspension.
1972 Monteverdi Hai 450 SS (Hemi Orange) (3-made) with Petty tuned Hemi.
1973 Porsche Carrera RSR (Grand Prix White, Blue trim)
1961 Jaguar E-Type (British Racing Green)
1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda (invoilet purple, black strobes)

Add 5 more Vettes:
1963 Split Window Z06 Coupe (Sebring Silver)
1994? Calloway Sledgehammer (Silver)
2000 Lingenfelter TT650
Mosler MT-900
1960's Beach City Chevrolet Funny Car

Lastly you have to keep the Vette you have and it parks in the driveway and not in the 20 car garage (1964 Roadster Riverside Red w/Aluminum Block, Rod Tranny, Race suspension but it would get a nice custom constructed tinted glass rotating dealership type display at the entrance to the garages.

OOPs! Forgot the 10 car garage you keep at the racetrack
F1 choice- 1967 Lotus 49 (Clark) #5
FIA choice- Psychodelic 917 Longtail
Trans Am Choice- 1968 Donohue Camaro #6

Great tastes- I have built myself some more garage space and rented a garage at the racetrack since creating this thread. You need more car choices now because Bill Gates left you his inheritance.

Yes Bill Cosby. Shelby built two special I think twin turbo charged 200mph Cobra's one for himself and the other ended up with Cosby the comedian. He has a comedy album about his exploits while driving this car. I know one was Guardsman Blue with white stripes but I am not sure about the other.

Default Re: buy 5 cars but not Vette's, which ones? (Denney)

1) 1932 Duesenberg Dual-Cowl Phaeton by Murphy (Black/Red)
2) 1955 Ferrari 250GT SWB Competition (Rosso)
3) 1932 Alfa Romeo Tipo 8C 2300 two-seat sports (Rosso)
4) 1927 Bentley Speed 6 Sports (British Racing Green!)
5) 2004 BMW 745IL (for when I want a sporty luxurious, reliable ride.) (Silver)

If I didn't already own a Triumph TR-3, I'd have it on the list. Make it '59 Powder Blue with blue interior (like my previous TR-3)

Now keep in mind, that I'm choosing cars based on the fact that
A) I'd need to pay for maintenance out of my own pocket
B) The intention is to drive, and since I'm 6'4" that rules-out many cars.

Otherwise, I'd throw-in a few Bugattis, a Lamborghini Muira (the last time I drove a Miura, I had a cramp in my right calf for about 5 days) and probably a McLaren F1.

And if I were to add 5 Corvettes to my existing collection:
1) 1953
2) 1959 Dual-Quad, 4-speed, Red (white coves) red interior.
3) 1967 427/435hp roadster
4) 1984 4+3, Z51 package (and a kidney belt)
5) Hold out for a C6...

...and then I'd have one from each generation :)

Back in the late 60's and early 70's I had several Mopars that I raced at the local strips, I wish I had them back today...so as a result a couple of them are on my list!

1. 1965 Plymouth Satellite 426 Wedge
2. 1970 Plymouth Cuda 440
3. 1966 Ford Thunderbolt
4. 1957 Chrysler 300C convertible
5. 1964 Plymouth Belvedere II 426 Stage III Wedge
6. 1970 Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4 Daytona

Today's exotics just don't do much for me except for the Ford GT-40

Default Re: C2 Owners & C4 Owners have good Taste (blucloud)

Today's Menu:

5 non-Vettes (a lot of people have stolen my choices):

'67 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 (I prefer the hardtop, but I want the aluminium body, nacherally, and Campanagolo wire wheels. I also want a mechanic.)
'76 Kremer Porsche 935
'72 Lamborghini Miura SV
'57 VW Beetle (beetles rule the dragstrips)
'72 Ferrari Dino GT (slow, but I love the way it looks)

My 5 Vettes:
'72 coupe modified with an aluminum 434 sbc, road-race ready suspension mods and a Jerico 5-speed
'69 convertible sorta ZL-1 clone (a big-block version of the '72)
'63 327/375 fuelly coupe (with '67 discs and a 3.70)
'57 fuelly 4-speed (also with discs. sorry, purists)
'79 with a 396 sbc, all torque, all power options and a 3.08 4-speed (to give to my Dad)

Not sure where to put a '66 Alfa Romeo GTA in here. Or A GT-40 witha 427 side-oiler. Or a Ferarri F-40. 10 cars is simply not enough!

Default C2 Owners have good taste. You have 5 vettes and can buy 5 cars but not Vette's, which ones?

would pick the dodge charger since thats probably my favorite of all time, but since i already own one, i wont count that towards my 5. got a really good kit cobra too, so even though id love to own an original, i wont go with one of those either

lamborghini countach quatvalve black
ferrari 512 tr red
jag xj220 british racing green
70 hemi challenger plum crazy
and i guess i gotta go with the miura in yellow.

other cars that i totally dig in no order
328 ferrari
360 spider
any older ferrari for that matter
gt40s
dussenburgs
NSX
Diablo
saleen s7 (probably should be in my top 5)
take a viper if they were giving em away

I'm surprised (or maybe I shouldn't be) that everyone seems to love the Lamborghini Miura.

They are absolutely gorgeous cars, and if you think they're breathtaking in pictures, in person, they are drop-dead gorgeous.

If you're interested, I did a test drive and article on one last year. The story is online on my site (along with a 5 generations of Corvette test-drive comparison.) The Miura article has great photos and even a soundclip of the engine at speed!
http://www.apexstrategy.com

But you'd never want to own one of these suckers... the parts are all custom made and expensive, and the cars are timebombs in terms of mechanicals (just like old Ferraris and Bugattis.)

Default Re: C2 Owners have good taste. (sammyb)

I'd go back to several Ferraris I owned in the early-to-mid-70's, none of which cost me more than $26K at the time:

1968 330GTC #11261 (my first Ferrari, in 1972)
1973 365GTS/4 Daytona Spyder #17071 (2nd-to-last one built - I spent two weeks in Maranello watching them build it, then shipped it home).
1961 250SWB Alloy SEFAC Hot-Rod #3005GT
1967 275GTB/4 (can't remember the chassis number)
And....
The 1965 Corvette 327/365 Coupe (Tanker) with A/C, leather, teak, telescopic that I did a body-off on in 1974 and sold the first time it was shown after the restoration was complete.

Hindsight is 20/20....... :cry

Default Re: buy 5 cars but not Vette's, which ones? (Denney)

FORUM CREATORS REVIEW TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Denney likes the convertibles but the sleeper racer 70 GS caught my eye it being listed instead of the flasher GSX.
Battsup-I hope the 99 Skyline is the race version that set the Nurburgring (old long course) record back in about 1999. The 1994 Supra is a little confusing to me. If I were Bill Gates I would disinherit you from the will. You need to spend it better. The 91 Camaro is the perfect daily driver but you can afford an Enzo now! But I do like the one off vette stuff listed (interesting).
Sammyb- 1955 250 GT SWB????????? Coupe?????? They had the TDF's and the California's in SWB or LWB but I think a little later in 1956? I would have to check. The other stuff just is pure classic stuff. You spend the inheritance good. You are worthy but will get chrome polishing elbow for sure so buy a good tennis elbow doctor and have him on payroll. Regarding the Corvettes interesting? You skipped the 68-82 years why? Interesting?
G Daina- very balanced list, got it covered. You could go to any car show and have something there that fits the theme.
Bowlerdude- 1966 Thunderbolt??? Typing error 1964! In 1966 they had the SOHC AFX Mustangs and I need one of those in Poppy Red. The Max Wedges interesting! No Dodge or Plymouth Factory altered's. The Hemi doesn't sound like it does it for you! The 1970 365 GTB/4 the coupe or spyder? Most think the Daytona was only associated with the Coupe and where are your Corvettes??????????????????????????????? ??? Are you trying to get us kicked off of this forum.

I got to go but will look forward to reading the rest later. I build scratchbuilt scale models so I have most of my garage listed in small scale along with my 1:1 scale cars (1964 highly mod Roadster, 68 T-top modified, 64 ElCamino w/65 clip on the front and a little red 356 B with S motor. Good night. :grouphug:
