Corvette Racer - 65 Big Block - Rolex Vintage Festival - Lime Rock
My son and I went to the event held this weekend in Lime Rock, Ct.. There were over 200 vintage race cars there including some rare Ferrari's, Bugatti's, Lister-Jaguar, Allard, Lotus, MG, Cobra, Shelby, Porsche, Corvette and a host of 60's Trans-Am cars. Those cars certainly brought back some memories! I've attached a picture of a well done 65 big block Corvette that I thought you would like.
The Trans-Am cars included the Penske Camaro and Javalin, the Smokey Yunick 68 Camaro, Parnelli Jones Mustang, etc. I think there were over twenty in that class alone. Vic Edelbrock and his daughter brought four cars with them, including his 63 Z-06, but he didn't race that one.
On the way out we followed a Ferrari GTO which was being driven back to the owners home which was a great sight. What a sound from that engine!

Cool car!
& What a neat event!
I have a set of 3" thinwall straight pipes like those that bolt onto the headers, but have not had the nerve to bolt 'em up!
Bet it sounded good! :smash:

Yup, this one sounded real stout! Reminded me of pictures of your car.
There was also a 62 there but we never saw it run. I've attached a picture of it. Notice the "For Sale" sign. Funny, my wife appears to have hidden the checkbook before we left for the event. Smart!

Heh Rich,
Man I'd love to cruz that BB Racer around my Neighbor Hood..!! The best time is on Sunday. Across the street from me is a church and I usually go thru there parking lot when they hold services on Sunday in first gear at 4500rpm and lift my foot as I come to the stop sign.
It's sort of a friendly pay back for all the traffic and noise they generate on Sunday as they come to Church early in the morning while I'm sleeping.
They all know my car and they toot the horn as they leave to go home when they see my garage door up. But I think that BB would be just a little louder.......

 Very Cool! I used to go to the Trans Am races in those days! It would be cool to see them again. When I go the US Grand Prix in Indianapolis in September, they have a vintage showing of many of the old F1 cars and they do run them all around the track for a few laps too! We also can get right up to the paddock area where they are to look them over closely. That's the highlight of the whole weekend for me.

I remember the #20 first generation 'vette at Pocono earlier this year. Its a real nice race car. You know how much the asking price is?

It's a great event I'd recommend to anybody in the Northeast. There were many more Vette and Chevy powered cars than Vettes. They sounded great. However I think I preferred the sound of the smallblock Ford V-8s. They seemed to be consistently louder! The loudest V-8 car there was an Allard coupe with a 392 Hemi.

I do have close-up pictures of the Penske and Yunick cars and one of the Trans-Am field coming through the turn at the start of the race. Here are the links:

As for the price on the 62, I never could find the owner to ask him. That was probably a good thing........... :steering:

Wow. A very, very cool line up of cars. That must have been very exciting to see all those cool cars crusing around the track.

There were so many intesting cars there it was tough to select which ones to get shots of. Seeing and hearing these cars come down the hill, and through the turns, at full song was a treat. Here are pictures of two of our favorite cars from the event. One is the GTO we followed on the way out of the track and the other is a Lister-Jaguar which was one of the nicest restorations we've seen.
