Tires: Raised White letters to Black?

Tires: Raised White letters to Black?
I've got a nice set of Radial T/A's on my '62. The only problem is I really don't like the raised white letters and would like to make them black.
Is there some type of paint or maybe black permanent marker that I can use on them? Of course I would want the final job to have excellent appearance, and would not want to be constantly re-applying whatever I used. Back in the day (1960's) you could buy black tire paint, but I haven't seen this available for years.
Has anybody done this? Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

You could just mount the tires with the white letters facing inboard. I think the black sides of the TAs look pretty good.

I have some ww tires mounted backwards on my 67. To kep the ww from showing when the wheels are turned, I blacked them out with flat black spray paint. I have to redo the paint about every 6-7 years.

Re: black out the ww (pv)
Flipping them to the back side is the correct thing to do.
There is a purpose made black-out liquid made for blacking out tires. My uncle used some to black out some white wall tires that he mounted black side out. I am not sure where to get that tire black out stuff, try a parts store.

I have the whitewalls mounted to the backside on my 64. I used a spray can of black undercoating to blackout the whitewalls. The stuff is flexible and I haven't had to recoat.

I've got the same problem. I bought Michelins, with the intent of turning the white wall in and the blackwall out, but when they arrived the lettering on the black side was very large and ugly compared to the front side. I've tried satin black paint. Perfect color match, but cracks after driving. Permanant marker doesn't match. Too shiny.
What I do? Black vinyl electrical tape on the white wall works the best. No one has noticed. If you've ever put any Armour All or such on your tires, don't even try it.
I'm still looking a better way.
Can the ugly lettering on the backside be buffed away? Anyone do this?

Thanks guys...never a shortage of ideas here! OK, I guess flipping them is a no-brainer. Yes, the back side of the T/A's look fine, maybe even better than the front side.
I'm encouraged by 62Fuelie's experience with black paint, and also Joe's use of black undercoating. Since I have a relatively small area with the raised letters and not a large white sidewall, I may try painting with a brush. That way it will probably be even less obvious than if I were to spray the sidewall.
Thanks all!
Tom

There was this guy in Camaro Performers who tinted the white letters a goldish color to match his Black and Gold 69 ZL1 clone

yes good point on the black rubberized undercoating, that's what i use on whitewalls and white letters that i "turn around"........ used black paint in the past, but it always flaked off............ i just spray a litte undercoating in a cup and use a foam brush from the hardware store.....works great
