Crazy high speed crash
Not a vette, but this happened yesterday close to me - Was about 200+ yards of destruction and the car isn't recognizable.
Talked to my friend who works at the Toyota dealership and he told me it was a Challenger. It took out the sign, two tents on either side of the drive, 10 cars including the TOP of the black SUV in front of the infinity dealer! It got airborne again over the double drive and went through the Toyota lot

I used to work in a large shop that also started a used car dealership. A whole lot of cars for sale were lined up right next to the street. Some car came flying out of a side street, hit the curb, went airborne and landed on top of one car in our lot totaling it. My boss was happy as a clam because the car it landed on wouldn't sell so the guy's insurance had to buy/pay for it.

Perhaps the mods will move this to Off Topiic forum for wider distribution?

Not really surprising with the over powered cars you get right off the showroom floor these days. Back in the day, you had to special order muscle cars, now most stock cars are faster than what we could buy back in the day. Sure cars are built to a much higher standards than back then, but the drivers are just as unqualified to drive them as many we had back in our day. I'm really surprised the insurance companies haven't stepped in like they did in the early 70's.

I have to agree with that statement. I guess the statistical threshold hasn't hit the point where insurance companies are concerned, but the videos on this thread gives me pause.

With the increase in engine horsepower, there has been a rise in options like antilock brakes, skid and traction control, active handling packages and some automatic crash controls that have helped people get out of tight situations. Sometimes you can't fix stupid. Jerry

Honestly, you can never fix stupid. I look at the collision avoidance and other safety features built into modern cars as protection for those following the rules. Protection from the idiots who pull in your lane without looking, stopping in the road without signalling, zooming in front of you to pass when there really isn't room. Drivers today seem to think they really do own the road........either too fast or too slow and too slow is always in the passing or left lane.

his death was ruled an accident
Something similar happened last fall with a C7 Corvette. Car was in pieces but the guy survived after being thrown 150+ feet from the car.
