Default Exhaust sound

Saw this 66 at a show and shine in Redding California yesterday. SBC small roller AFR heads 350. But it sounded exotic.New thing there doing with the crossover after the trans Xmember.

A little too aggressive. Sounds like a growling/barking dog.
Pass.

a little too high pitched for me... i like the low rumbling sound along with a "tink tink' from the mufflers... hard to describe.

Yeah not saying it was the best sound for a corvette. But cool how you can change the sound with the configuration of the pipe and mufflers. Kinda sounded like a newer LS Vette

Sound different. You are right, sounds like a newer car with a more exotic pedigree or a resto-mod.

What mufflers were on it? What diameter pipes? Headers? H pipe or X pipe?

Thanks for sharing,

Sounds like my neighbors 70th edition Z51 whenever it starts up and is revving. You can hear that thing barking whenever he shifts it. Scary fast. Now, my son's 74 corvette sounds so good that he got popped by the local traffic motorcycle officer near his school. His corvette has hooker stainless side pipes with CA street legal hooker muffler inserts. The police officer did not do a decibel reading. He got him doing 10 over speed limit 40 MPH. My son knew he the officer was out to get him since the officer told one of his friends who was pulled over that he was going to get him a ticket for the pipes. The funny, thing is another one of kids got pulled over doing excessive speeding 100+ on a rice rocket in the same area which was a 40 zone. . The same cop let him off with a ticket going 10 over speed limit. As I told my son he best just walk around for lunch during school if he knew the motorcycle officer was looking for him. And yes, the inserts were installed... He has only took out the inserts once and that was for a special event at a local car show. I am not sure how this will work since the laws are kind of up in the air on the fine plus the officer did not have a device to read the decibels.

I think I would have a talk with the officer in question. 100 in a 40 is a felling and license suspended. When he's off duty at he's favorite bar

Headers, 3" pipe, plenum, unknow mufflers. So from what I was told the exotic newer sound is because of the crossover which is an completely open chamber not just a hole between the two

Yeah, I wanted to talk to him but I know that would do no good. Like I told Jacky... He was the big fish and he wanted to him. So he will have to go and find out how many decibels it is and pay for the ticket. CA has BS laws now about altered exhaust. The funny thing is we did not add the pipes. I did make it mandatory that he was to add mufflers to quiet it down before he could take it on the road.

But that corvette sounds good! Raspy!
