Pre-historic exhaust manifold treatment.
As long as we can talk about "roll ur own"..... Back in the dark ages, before there was POR15 or anything else, there was hardware store copper paint with 7% copper content.
After cleaning the manifold, we would spray the copper paint and then heat it to cure the paint. The heat turned the paint a respectable gray and that was that.
I painted the manifolds on my FI '60 with copper paint 44+ years ago.
They are only now, after 44 years, starting to look like they need another coat of copper. Not making this up.
When I get home and have access to my photo library again, I'll post pictures for the curious or the merely bored.
