C2 a/c conversion
Considering adding A/C to my 67 conv, Looking for opinions from guys that have added A/C and decided it was not worth the time and expense.

Not certain anyone will state this and agree..........................for a DRIVER car, everyone that does this addition seems happy.
Just chose the right company. Vintage Air has very high marks.

No reason not too, at least once you successfully complete the install.

I would say that if you drive your c2 regularly it is well worth doing. Modern ac systems are far superior to the old GM r12 frigidare systems and work great. PLUS ac was always a factory option. HOWEVER, if you have an original car that you do not drive much and is really nice, I would NEVER add anything like that as it affects the originality and the value of the car

Car has very little original including a nom engine and trans, the car is a driver and I am going the Resto mod route, all new modern suspension, drivetrain, LS3 and 4L65E. Car is a conv and I don't know how much I will use the A/C here in the New England area.

No . You have a ragtop ,you can get by,the few days it is really hot.

Temps here in Nor CA are fairly temperate. Even so, speaking for myself, on moderately hot days approaching 85° the soft top goes up and AC on. VA was added about 8 years ago.
Top down is great in cruising weather but even vert cabins get too hot at times.

Don't know about a convertible...but definitely worth it for a coupe. Have had a lot of "purists" in my car on 100+ degree days and they all smile when I roll up the windows and blast the A/C.

I'd do it for sure. It's not a significant expense and since you're doing an engine swap you can plan things out with the condenser so the hoses look good. The evaporator (at least with Vintage Air) would also be easier to install with the engine out.

It will expand the days you can drive and enjoy. Plus change who wants to come along with you because they will be more comfortable.
Why an LS? Money and time to burn?

I’m in the process of installing vintage air in my 67 convertible as we speak. I’m going similar to how Tom Dewitt installed his but I’m doing the firewall connections a little different as well as bending my own hard lines that tuck up under the fender in hopes of not blocking the battery. Waiting on my 1/2” tube bender to arrive so hopefully I can get it in this weekend.

I did the Vintage Air on my 63 coupe and after all is said and done, it works great..
Be aware, that getting the evaporator in and the hoses routed per instructions is a
pain. Lots of threads on here on how to do it

As others have said, on a restomod, the price of an AC system is almost modest. Even if you use it a few times a year, it is worth it. Also, if you ever sell the car, it will be more appealing to more buyers in warmer climates. Jerry

I have contemplated putting something on my 64. The first thing that comes to mind is moving the alternator to the other side and if the wiring harness needs to be changed due to the length requirements. I also have a great setup to mount the alternator to the headers, but cannot remember the brand of the bracket.
