Default 66 - no door access covers?

Today I removed my door panels, and there were no metal door access covers. There are not even any holes in the interior door skin for the mounting screws.

Did GM stop using these metal covers on 66 C2's?

Yes, Chevy stopped using those screw-on covers after the 65 Model Year. Musta saved a good .50 per car due to the omission.

Really, I didn’t know that! My 65 didn’t have them when I bought it, thought some previous owner removed them so ordered new ones.

I added them to my 66 coupe. The panels were cheap. With side pipes, anything extra in the doors to tone down the noise helps. Jerry
