67 tach cable orientation
I have to replace the tach cable and cable housing on the 67 327. The cable is currently oriented such that is has almost a 90 degree bend just before it attaches the the distributor. The cable is just barely long enough to reach the tachometer like this.
I am thinking that I need to shift the plug wires and distributor such that the tach cable has a more straight in approach from the dash opening. This will make it fit the tachometer better.
Thoughts?

Yes, you can certainly shift the wiring on the cap and reposition the distributor body so that it is a straighter shot for the cable. As a matter of fact, GM put out a service notice in '68 about reorienting the distributor so that the vacuum can points out to the passenger side perpendicular to the engine's center line due to the issues the new body style was having with the cable. Get a timing measurement as it currently sits. Rotate the engine to #1TDC, loosen the distributor hold down and swing the housing clockwise. (If you can't because of intake manifold or bracket restrictions, you'll have to pull the entire distributor up and re-"stab" it on a different cam shaft tooth.) Reinstall the plug wire for #1 to the tower closes to where the rotor tip is pointing. You'll have to re-time the engine to the previous measurement.
If not confident doing this, a 90° adapter may just be easier, quicker, and less stressful.

I have repositioned distributors a number of times for various reasons, but this is the first time I planned it to reposition the tach drive output.
Thanks for the suggestions.
