Vent window regulator
I just rebuilt my left vent window regulator on my 64 coupe. When I went to tighten the 1/4" bolt that secures the shaft to the regulator the bolt will not tighten. There is no signs of threads anywhere. Are they supposed to be part of the clip or the rear hole in the regulator gear shaft?
Thanks, Joe

wasn't that plate riveted originally. I seem to recall when I rebuilt them for dads car I had to tap those holes for the supplied bolt

Joe,
I don't have many pictures of that part of the regulator and it's been a long time since I had any apart but, I think there are/were threads in that location.
Perhaps you can use a longer bolt and add a nut on the back side to retain the T-post in the slot.

Isn’t there a captured square nut that is part of the clip? It’s been a few years since I repaired the ones in my ‘64.

Don't know whether this will help, but here's mine. I believe the threads are in the shaft. If you need confirmation I will back the bolt out.

Plaidside,
See this picture. There is a "spring" in there originally. No captured nut. Pretty sure the other side should be threaded. You can just see the threads in the picture.

The threads are in the shaft. However due to the cast aluminum material of the original shaft the threads strip out easily. If you don't care care about originality just install a longer bolt with a lock washer and nut . Or you can purchase a new shaft from any of the parts vendors . The replacement shafts are made out of billet aluminum and not cast aluminum making the threads far superior in strength and less likely to strip out.
