Two different Battery Trays for 1962 Corvette
I am in the process of refurbishing the battery area of my 62 340hp. After removing the battery I noticed the battery tray was severly rusted. In looking for a new one on-line I see two different designs for C1. Can anybody shed some light on this please.

The second one is just the tray proper, without supports. Gives you an option for the repair. With the second, you'd use your old supports.

This is the correct answer to the OP's question. All 55-62 Corvettes use the same battery tray. The top 2 pictures are the complete battery tray assembly, with support, while the bottom 2 are just the battery tray itself, without the support.

BE CAREFUL, l just finished replacing mine. Now I bought the one I installed probably 20 or 25 years ago at a NCRS convention. It very closely resembles the one with the legs. My car had no tray, no legs, just the piece that is welded to the frame that the tray sits on and some scabs on the side frame where the legs once were attached. After performing the required grinding to custom fit it to the car. I decided to use the Z shaped frame mount as the one that was on the “reproduction “ was not configured like the factory piece. Cut the Z off the reproduction. Welded it in and my son, the welder, says dad I don’t think that’s big enough to hold your battery! Well every where I looked said it’s a group 24 battery 10-1/4 “ long and 6-7/8 wide. Battery tray installed measures 10” x6-7/8”. Well it’s not coming out I’m gonna buy a group 47 battery. 9-9/16 x 6-7/8” . Hope this helps you out.

And I bet the person who sold it to you knew it was incorrect. What a jerk.
