Lot 1427 looked like it has an interesting treatment of headlights. Looks like they dont roll open. Instead lamps are in an opening below the top part of cowl so from top it looks like a regular c2 corvette. Of course best to have it roll open, but this was interesting. Hadn't seen this before.

Haters gonna hate. Stock cars all look the same, with the SAME wheels, AND different colors............ I had my 67 out yesterday, with another C2 that I added "stage coach wheels". We went to a show, 90 mile round trip. Had a bunch of fun, with a bunch of "stock" C1's and C-2's. Don't have to be a "hater" to enjoy ALL of the cars, and what they represent. Probably should get off of the "fad" bit too. You've been hating on it now, for about 16 years (that was the last post that I could find). The "fad" is still going, and bringing more interest, and more money than the rest of the stuff. I tell you every year, and you still come back with the sarcasm.

Nowhere Man said:............]I remember that very well Rod S a local guy took a one owner 63 coupe and cut it up to install a new at the time Z06 That was one of the first ones I remember before it got main stream. His car was featured at Carilsle and even on the cover I think in 02. This fad won't die I don't think it will continue to follow the current offering from GM. So obviously the next big thing will be EV powered. But like I said before all those first early resto mods already have been redone two or three times by now to stay up to date. And that is what it's all about.
That, my friend, is bullshit.
Here are some "facts"......I have stayed in contact with the owners of all of the cars that I have built. That's 30, minus one, who has passed away. The first 2 cars that I built were built with zz4 crates, 1 was a built 350 (by the owner) , 3 of them were LS1, 6 were LS2, 1 was dry sump LS7, 1 LS6, The rest LS3. Most were on C4 suspension. I also "assisted" on building 12 other cars that were built by the owners. I have also stayed pretty close to the market, and have become friends with many of the builders, fabricators and the restomod chassis builders. As of today, 2024, I KNOW that 35 of those 42 cars still have the installed drivetrain, and chassis. I know that one 62 was changed from an old LT1 to an LS3. I know that one was repainted (was in a small wreck). I don't know where 3 of the 42 cars are located. I speak with these folks pretty regularly, and they ALL drive their cars. Just some fun FACTS. To my knowledge, NONE of the cars have been changed to "stay up to date", and yes, they all still have "stage coach wheels".

I am not the only one who "hates" as you call it but sure pick on me. I always said there is room in the sand box for everyone. You make a living off it. I don't. But I haven't seen one with C4 suspension an a LS1 for a very long time. Certainly not all those high dollar ones I'm sure there will be more haters as you call it when the trend is to make them EV. Good luck. Also I have yet to see one of those cars on the road anywhere where I live. But we have plenty of other high dollar cars here. So that's not the problem.

But it the end, these are being bought by people with excess money. It's great for the builders and the TV auctions but is it really great for the sport?
I love them but I'm not wealthy enough to throw that kind of money away.

Thanks, but all good things come to an end. I have had this collection together a long time and done lots of stuff with it through NCRS, MCACN, etc. had tons of fun, so time for a new caretaker to get a few. I'll keep a few for drivers, but the rare ones need to get out there and be seen more. I am sad to see some go, but as the stamp collector said in the movie "Charade" after he gave back the rarest stamp he had ever owned: "It was mine for a time, and that is enough". We are just caretakers for these great cars.

You did very well on the sale of your '67 L79 tanker. Congratulations, my friend How many of your fantastic collection are you planning on selling? Which ones are you going to keep and drive?

NCRS cars are nice. Restomods done right (meaning wire transfers with lots of zeroes) can’t be beat. I saw a restomod 65 convertible with a custome frame, LS7, six speed transaxle out of a C6 Z06 and a sweet center exit four tip exhaust job that I am confident I would rather have over any NCRS car. And I wouldn’t be afraid to drive it or put wear and tear on it. The restomods are definitely here to stay until there’s no more gas to run any of these.
I think the vid is up on YouTube somewhere for that one. Business called Smokey Mountain Motors had it for sale. Didn’t take them long to sell it. Autotopia also did a video on a restomod 427 crate big block 67 coupe with gorgeous stack injection that easily has to be a half million dollar build, it’s ridiculous.

Same car,, It was on an open trailer at the Quality Inn on Route 11 on Friday afternoon, and my buddy (Mark C) and I looked it over.. Just a gorgeous build.. If memory serves, it was bought for around $120K. We thought that price seemed very fair. Not surprised that it sold quickly.

the company I bought my '66 from is buying all the mid-years they can find, regardless of condition and selling them off to a shop that builds rest mods. I guess I saved mine...lol!

Barrett was insane. I can not believe the money the old Blazers and Broncos are bringing... It is crazy. There are builders here in PHX that are buying up anything that they can convert over to a resto. My buddy in Ohio sold three resto cars at BJ. 2 -C2's, 1- C1... total of over $1.0M. Not a bad haul. I have 2 66', one resto, one modified but stock engine, interior. Both are a blast, just WAY different experiences. Glad to see people interested in Corvettes in general.

I know restomod fans like to say that stock cars are all the same, but those of us that prefer stock cars feel the same way about restomods. They may be drastically different, but to a stock guy they are all the same. Some of them way more modified than others.
There’s room in the sandbox for everyone; I wish the animosity wasnt there.I dont see it going away any time soon.
I still think attending a Barrett or a Mecum event is the best car show bang for the buck there is. You cannot find such an extreme display of “something for everyone” anywhere else.

To me a resto mod is a car that gets turned into something you would daily drive when its nice outside, miles do not matter anymore. They should not be built so over the top that you would not drive it. These resto mods getting the big bucks just turn out to be life size models to stare at and eventually flip down the road, most will never see the roadway.
