American Racing Baja wheels hit calipers on 65
I ordered one American Racing AR172 Baja Black Wheels AR1725761B from Summit. According to the Summit and the American Racing website, this wheel should fit on a 65, but the wheel hits the calipers. Has anyone run into this issue, and what was your solution ?

Only real choice is to use a 1/4" or so spacer. Make sure you get the correct lug nuts and/or longer studs depending on the type of lug nut it uses. If it's very minor sometimes you can grind on calipers a little if that doesn't bother you.
I have several sets of wheels for my C2....some require spacers, some don't. They are not a safety concern....I've driven in the 150-200 MPH range on mine with them and no issues.

I went to Wilwoods for my new wheels that had this problem. With big tires and 4.5" back space couldn't do a spacer. On the rear the Wilwoods gave about 3/8" to 1/2" more spacing. Not the cheap way to go but don't regret. Amazing how much lighter the Wilwoods are also. Not sure if stock but my rear calipers were very different from the fronts. Much wider. Larry

when I bought my '66, it had cragar ss wheels that required a 1/4" spacer. the stock wheel studs were not long enough. I replaced the studs with longer ones and cured the problem. I have changed to American racing TTO wheels and they also require the spacers.

My new torque thrust wheels just barely hit the bleeder valves on the rear. Did like 427hotrod said, used .25” spacers. I might have gotten by by using a shorter valve.

make sure your studs are long enough. when I first got my '66 I had trouble with the lug nuts stripping out because there wasn't enough stud length. i. replaced the studs with longer ones.
