Default VIN and paint tags

This is a pic from what is advertised as a 1965 coupe and tags appear to be accessed through a "glove box" door. Never had a C2 and looking, I thought these tags were viewed looking up under the dash. Glove box???

The tags look properly placed to me. I think it's just an optical illusion because of the angle the picture was taken at and the wide angle lens used for taking it.

Well for one the glove box liner is missing. To get a better picture or to read the vin and trim tag you just look under the glove box door and your see it on the birdcage cross bar

JM - As you've already heard...your Trim and VIN tags look to be in the right location, under and slightly forward of the glove box door and you also heard about your missing glove box liner.
Here's a couple pics from my 65 Roadster that might help.

FWIW: Trim tag appears to be reproduction.

Even poor quality of photo shows "MH" misalignment.

you must have one of those magic machines they used on CSI Miami. The one where they say “enhance that photo” and suddenly a satellite or security photo becomes crystal clear.

Default vin and trim

This is the worst place to ask about a vin or trim tag. To many arm chair quarterbacks that think they know what they are looking at. Just my 2 cent's.

Large Trim Tag image below is an original tag.

Right-side down strokes of "M" in Motors and "H" in Michigan line up vertically on an original tag.

Bottom image of OP's example: "H" in Michigan lines up to the right of "M" in Motors.

Numerous threads in this C1/C2 Forum have examples of identifying reproduction tags.

All well and good, but, isn't a good, clear, close up head-on photograph a requirement in making such an analysis, and declaration of invalidity? There isn't one in this thread.

The image is from an angle, tilted counter-clockwise and the arrow provided is vertical. Anyone pretending to judge this tag from this one image is just that, pretending. This doesn't look like the kind of car that would have a fake trim tag. That wasn't even the question asked in the first place.

Thanks, you provided everything I needed to know. Didn't realize the liner was out, that's why it looked odd to me.
