Corvette News Magazine
I recently acquired a good-sized collection of Corvette News magazines, and I have been trying to determine the history of the magazine so I can determine what issues I may be missing. This is the magazine published by Chevrolet's Campbell-Ewald advertising agency and new Corvette buyers received a complimentary subscription - at least it started out that way. As near as I can find out (so far), the first copies (Volume 1) appeared in 1957, and the last ones in winter 1987-88 (Volume 30), The first three volumes (1957-58-59) appear to have been a quarterly publication of four issues, going to a bi-monthly, six-issue format in 1960 which continued through the end of publication. At the moment I am seeking Volume 5 issues 1 & 3, and Volume 6 issue 3. I am likely missing some issues from the mid- 1970s as well. I welcome any corrections or additions you can make to the information I have posted about the magazine, and any sources for vendors who may have copies for sale. Having read through a few issues from the early 1960s, it's not the greatest magazine in the world but it does have a lot of unique articles about our cars, and interviews with some fascinating Corvette personalities over the years, most of them long gone now. A couple of nice binders with the "Corvette News" logo embossed on them came with the books - I wish I had more of those as well. What do you know about Corvette News? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Wow, I had no idea it had that long a life. In the mid 60's you could get a subscription just by contacting GM and requesting. I sold most of mine long ago but then found more. I have a couple still in unopened envelopes, but not the timeframe you need. It was interesting and free, a hard combination to beat.

I believe that Corvette Quarterly magazine took over when Corvette News stopped publication in 1988, and they lasted another 10 or 12 years or so. It appears that at least part of the problem that led to the demise of Corvette News was the very lax way that issues were mailed out to just about anyone, whether they had purchased a new Corvette or not, and some folks continued to receive the magazine for decades. Again, I welcome any corrections or additions.
