Proud New C2 Owner saying hello
Hello all,
Proud new C2 owner checking in! I've been on the forum for some time. I'm a 47 year old second generation corvette enthusiast. I've been lurking in the autocross & road racing area for a few years now. I've been a track rat for a while, have a full prep C5Z and have done 80+ days at over a dozen tracks on the east coast. Prior to that I was active in the C3 page. I just sold a C3 to make space for this C2. Its a 1967 convertible, base model low option car. Body and paint is driver quality on a good day. I went with my father to buy it in 1994 and remember vividly riding back home with him at the age of 15. Back then the car had a dash and seats and thats about it. He bought it to autocross thinking the engine had a questionable stamp and was potentially swapped. He learned that the motor was likely original from a corvette club friend from way back. It ended up being referenced in an old NCRS driveline article making for a cool fun story (and i'm sure controversial ). I remember the engine being on the stand with the yellow HA on the side of it after he cleaned it up some.
It'll be a fun driver for the next few years. It runs and drives great and my son loves it! I'll be spending some time here in the C2 space and am always appreciative for help and advice. I'm not interested in shows or judging, just love driving around the PA backroads. And am obsessed with the track which this car won't see.

Welcome to the C2 club Dan. Nice looking car. I am right here in the North end of Palmer Twp., so we are practically neighbors. I see you don't like the shows much, but maybe you could hit a cruise night at the Sam's club on 248 before the season runs out, I would love to see your car. If not we might just pass by each other on one of those back roads, I love to cruise those as well.
Good luck with your car.
Regards,
Mark

How about that! I used to go to the 248 cruises occasionally with the C3 back when i lived in Palmer. I thought those cruises had stopped a long time ago, cool to hear they are back. Let me know what the date is for the last one. I'm up at Watkins Glen 10/20-22 for my last track event of the year, other than that weekend i am game if the weather is cooperative. Thank you for the kind words! I'm about a mile from Becks restaurant.

Cool car. Green is my favorite 67 color.
Curious about the Z06. I sold my H/C/I EB Z06 to a guy who turned it into a track car, probably 16-17 years ago. I always wondered if that car survived.

The Z06 i bought off craigslist in budd lake NJ. Its a full NASA/SCCA cage, fire system, containment seats and harnesses, gutted interior, penske coilovers, T1 bars, AP brake kit, coolers on everything, RD radiator, delrin bushings everywhere, Hoosiers, nine lives medium downforce aero, and ARH long tube heads, no cats, and B&B bullets that are loud enough to wake the dead! It sits with about 32k miles on it and looks like it has about 332k miles.
Want to start wheel to wheel racing and looking for options as to how. Planning to get my comp license in the spring. Learned that spec corvette may be drying up in the northeast so have to pivot just not sure where. If i can't find a class i'll do a cam because why not! Been doing HPDE since 2016 and my buddies and I started lemons racing last year. We are three races in with an 88 integra that we bought and its a blast. Time to raise the W2W game with something in the C5 since my track buddies don't do many events. I try to do 6-8 a year, they probably do 2.

I'm not a racer but that was my original intent when I got the Z06. I never got as far as tracking that car. It had LGM's most radical cam, AFR205 heads, FAST 90 intake, more stuff I long forgot about. This was when I was about 25-27 and turning money into noise. I may have street raced it a few times. I never felt comfortable in that car and lost interest quickly and went back to my true love, 63-67 Corvettes. I sure appreciate the engineering of the C5 cars, even though it was my least-favorite of 12 Corvettes I've had.

The C5 was ahead of its time, it is soooo good. Its over 20 years old and I can run with some of the fastest modern stuff you see at the track with that old girl. Mine is stock power and must have 15k track miles on it and it just keeps going. The LS platform is really something else. It does run out of juice in 5th gear, kinda falls on its face. Unless your a skilled driver in a gt4 or gt3rs or highly prepared c7, i can fill your mirrors!
I skewed Porsche for the last few years and have driven several modern 911s. The newest one Ive owned is a 2012 GTS. A great car and very fast, but compared to my C5, C6s, and C7, not amazing. I am still holding my 993 C4 and will probably never sell it, because those truly are exceptional (if highly underpowered by modern standards).
Not a lot of guys our age (I'm 44) in the vintage Corvette game!
