Borgeson vs Rack & Pinion

Borgeson vs Rack & Pinion
Good Morning,
My 1965 C2 with a small block (350), manual Transmission needs a power steering conversion. What are your opinions regarding power steering? Particularly with the differences between Borgeson, and rack & pinion? I was told that the r&p systems hang a bit low and can cause clearance issues. Has anyone converted a (non power steering) C2 with either system, and could you elaborate on the pros and cons of either? What do you love, and what do you hate about the conversion and finished product?

I put Borgeson on my 67 a few years ago and I absolutely love it. It works so great and looks like it came from the factory that way. Not that I care about that, but it's nice that it looks right anyway. If you search on here, I think that you will find that the vast majority of people here choose Borgeson. I was going to do R&P but I'm glad that I went with Borgeson. Either way you are going to just love the change!

I added R & P to my '66 a few years ago and LOVE it! Whichever way you go, you'll need a power steering pump . . . I recommend a remanufactured pump from Rock Auto - it's the way I went and it looks original and works great! Good luck with your project!

C2 of the Year Finalist - Modified 2020
I did my own Borgeson conversion several years ago, and have loved every turn of the wheel, using one finger many times. I think the Borgeson is easier to install since it uses 3 GM parts. Dennis

While I have no experience with R & P steering; I can say that the Borgeson PS installed on my ‘65 L76 is Awesome. My Vette steers better than brand new cars I own. Looks Great and operate flawlessly.

I put Borgeson on my 64 several years ago. Straight forward install with a good fit. Only alteration is shortening the steering shaft. It made the car a joy to drive and park.

I've had Borgeson on mine for years. Not a drip, steers fantastic whether I'm on the street, at 160+ MPH at the dragstrip or at 200 MPH at the TX Mile.
I'm actually very impressed with the old school PS pump that came with it. That thing has survived years of 8000+ RPM runs without a whimper. I figured it would have died long ago...but still going strong.
Hard to beat the simplicity and clean install of the Borgeson.

sorry for all the good intentions, but imho , nothing can beat a ( correct installed ) R&P. No wonder ALL our modern cars use it . No ?

My Borgeson was installed four years ago, big improvement over stock. Why GM used that crap PS system on a Corvette never made sense to me. Cadillac was using a Borgeson type system back in1959. (Sorry, that is a pet peeve with me). PS will also allow you to use a smaller steering wheel.
