Are you talking about the Breakerless SE kit? I have had those in half a dozen cars and they have been bulletproof. If it's ignition, have you checked the plug wire resistance? If you have "correct" repro wires, I have had the issue you describe every time I've used them.

The Breakerless SE setup is about as simple and reliable as you will find. I currently use it and have used it in the past...never an issue.

Yes the S/E kif
i have 3 orher them in other cars - issue free! So im a huge fan for sure
but I did put new AC delco wires on the car last night - and same story - breaks up above 4000-4500. Super easy starting, idles great, timing seems rock steady - Emgine revs unloaded to 7k no issue
gonna try a different coil , but i just installed a new NOS delco coil (an original not an offshore repop) so i doubt thats it unless they can go bad from sitting for 60 years lol

Which rotor are you using? Most rotors sold today are emission type. Try using Accel 130117 rotor.

It may not have the correct extended copper tip. Link to where you can buy the correct cap.

Had the same problem breaking up above 3500. One of two things fixed it. 1) went from a new Pertronix unit to SE and 2) replaced my new coil with another new NAPA coil. Rips clean to 6500+ now. I think the new coil that was in it was crap. Larry

If there was a fuel issue the engine would feel flat under acceleration.

Make sure that the black wire that makes the connection between the module under the distributor cap and the negative on the coil has a clean, tight connection on both ends.
