Monterey Car Week and Laguna Seca photos
I attended the Rolex Motorsports Reunion and Monterey car shows last week. It was my first time there, and it was amazing. We had a campsite above the corkscrew and could watch the races from there. Still, it was cool to wander the paddock and see the race cars up in person, Also caught the Concours road trip and a couple of car shows in Monterey. I hope you enjoy the photos.
My friend's son was in the paddock area admiring a 427 Ford Cobra. The owner asked if he wanted to sit in it. Turns out it was none other than Jim Farley, the CEO of the Ford Motor Company! As you may or may not know, he is an avid racer and drives his own cars.

Great time in Monterey. Our cruise down to Big Sur Ale House was fantastic. Professional photographer joined us for some killer photos. And.... they let us on the track. 70-80 mph parade laps...but it was a blast!

This last weekend took a toll on me, a lot of walking, missed sleep! Ugh!
I hope to put a few pictures up. The Races was a let down, sure many great cars, but attendance was down, car entries were about 400 vice the normal roughly 600. On Friday I pretty much had Laguna Seca covered. Going on Saturday was gravy, but Saturday morning I went to check other events happening, got to the races at the lunch break and then left around 3pm to walk to the car up the hill. Someone stole my handicap placard, looks like the left back door wasn't locked, my own fault.
The infields, the displays, manufacturers was not near as interesting as past years, whoppy do the Electric Corvette.
The overall weekend was more cars than ever before, mostly non-Corvette as every Marque now practically has an event. I got all kinds of pictures of exotics-- Bugatti Chiron, Pagani's, Venom F5s were there, etc. etc. etc. The Pebble Beach Manufacturers area was second to no other years. I didn't try to sneak in, and then later heard Grand Sport #001 was entered.
When I get home, I will pick a few pictures and post. Between Seaside, Monterey, Carmel, 17 Mile Drive/Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Laguna Seca, etc. more cars than I have ever seen. The Auctions were disappointing for the spectator crowd. I didn't purchase access to any of them.
The Police were super heavy, as it looked like they brought in Highway Patrol to support the local PDs. I saw they were posting ticket and arrest numbers and had an all weekend speed/radar trap set up at the end of the tunnel. Top speed on Saturday was a clocking of 94 mph. Parking was terrible everywhere.
Seemed like the races, the cars were so spread apart, it was boring just watching them lap after lap, without any real side by side battles for long. The GT race, pretty much the only passing was when the leaders caught up to the back markers, and some cars starting last, ran up to mid-field or dropped back a few places. I know it is all about safety, and the car values to risk in side by side competition is a higher focus now.

This weekend was something else for other rides
I was carrying three different cameras, so have thousands of pictures to sort.
