Default Help me find my old C2

I ordered this car in August of 1966 and took delivery in November. The original window sticker with the VIN is below. If anyone can help me determine if it's still alive, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Well it DOES show in the NMVTIS. Here's one of the sites that will send you a report for about $15. https://www.titlecheck.us/about_nmvtis.html It won't tell you owner or city but should tell you what state it was last titled in and when that was done.

There is a page on Facebook called Lost Muscle Cars. I used that to come very close to finding my first '57 Corvette. I made more progress there in two days than I had made in the previous 20 years in trying to locate that car. Whether you enjoy Facebook or not this is a great resource.

Also, the NCRS publication has a section dedicated to individuals seeking information about past ownership. It may be worth a try. Good luck with your search. Jerry

Chin up. When I was more heavily into collecting US small arms I read several cases in which a child of an ex-service member located his or her Father's M1 rifle, and purchased it for their Dad. And millions of them were made, tens of thousands lost and tens of thousands destroyed, still others sold to foreign nations. Still others in storage, s/ns not known. And the only record of the thing was the Father's memory of the s/n as Uncle Sam didn't track by serial number very closely. They gave you a rifle and you turned in a rifle.

So can get lucky on your search. Odds are still long but you can get lucky on it all the same

That's like finding a needle in a haystack! I sold it to a friend when he returned from 'nam in 1969 and a year later he traded it in on a Firebird 400 after which it got sold to someone I knew in our National Guard unit. After that who knows? Back then they were used cars and not valued like today. I think it had a rough life toward the end, so it may not have survived.

See my post #4. The car shows in the NMVTIS so it was still around fairly recently. The fact that they DO have a record is free, but I'm not going to pay the $10 or $15 to get the report for you. In the grand scheme of things, that's cheap - roll the dice, spend the money and see what it shows.

There HAVE been cases of old cars being tracked down. Vettebuyer6369 was contacted by the original owner of a '63 he owned, and he sold it back to them. I was able to locate my first car, a '59, which I sold in 1968 and which I had no info after about 1970. There are other success stories by forum members, if you are serious about looking for it don't give up easy.

I didn't realize that if it showed in NMVTIS that it was fairly recent.... like how far back maybe? Maybe I'll be a big spender and go for it. Not looking to buy it back, but just curious. But then you never know!!!

It depends on what state it's got a record in. Some states began participating in the program before it became mandatory. Some actually seem to have input data from years prior. Others are fairly recent. A '58 my first wife owned shows titled in Washington state in 1997. My '63 convertible was titled in Illinois in 2002.

It will at least give you a place to narrow your search to.

Then, what's the point?

Just interested to know if it survived, and if so I'd like to see it again and maybe reunite some original paperwork with it.

So where did the NMVTIS report show as its location?
