The GTO air cleaner base will fit over an edelbrock carbruetor and mate up to the original '61 air cleaner top, but the base for the GTO does have a slightly different shape. It appears to possibly add some height.

Does anyone have a 58-62 with an edelbrock, using a GTO base and original top for the air cleaner? Are there hood clearance issues? Do you know how much room there is between the hood and the air cleaner top?

I'm hoping to have room to run the GTO base so it will fit on the edelbrock carb, but also use the insulating spacer to help with heat.

I have that GTO base and cover on my 59, along with a L79 aluminum intake and Edelbrock carb. There are no clearance issues. approximately 1/2" - 3/4" between hood and filter cover.
