Engine mounts replaced or not
I am going to have a rebuilt 327 installed soon and was wondering if I should have the motor mounts replaced at that time. I would imagine the ones in the car are at least 35 years old. Also, is there only one type that fits, or are there many different types that could cause an issue? Thanks

I would definitely change them if you’re swapping engines. Easy to do with the engine already out, inexpensive and you don’t want to do it 2-3 years from now. I’ll let more knowledgeable members provide advice on which ones to use🍻

I've read about people buying from Amazon and Summit and getting Indian-made junk but being sold as something else. Has anyone else bought these poorly made mounts?

It has been advised lately to use solid mount due to not being able to find acceptable rubber mounts.

Anchor motor mounts are still made in the USA. I would certainly use them. Link below.

[QUOTE=TAlvarez;1606484700]And, therein lies the rub. The Anchor mounts (made in USA) are getting harder and harder to find. Buy 'em when you can find them...that's why I posted the link that I did. Rock Auto is a terrific source for parts and, usually, the best price for similar product...but, if you need them now you gotta go where they're available.

They have them at Energy Suspension
but are $53 each. That seems kind of high to me plus they come with some kind of metal plate that the others don't come with. their website says made in America and they have excellent reviews.

I don't have any experience with Anchor motor mounts but.....I did a search for "where are Anchor motor mounts made" ---- got a lot of links. According to the internet - which is always true - Anchor motor mounts are made in China or India. The company is owned by China, and there are a lot of negative reviews and comments about Anchor mounts. Like I said, I don't have any personal experience with Anchor products but..... I would be looking elsewhere. I checked NAPA - they sell mounts made by Pioneer - made in China. If you can find mounts that are made in the USA I would consider them. Also, look for mounts made in Mexico - stuff made there is generally better than what comes from Asia - just my opinion.

From Zip's website:
"Original style 1963-1969 Corvette engine mount - attaches engine block to frame rail bracket. Non-locking style which is compatible with original or reproduction lower spark plug wire heat shields. 2 per Corvette. Sold individually. US made by Anchor. Limited Supply."

I put locking style motor mounts, at JohnZ's suggestion, on my 67 in 2009 when I had the engine rebuilt. They require you to modify the lower ignition shielding.

I ordered two new mounts for my motor from Energy Suspension but I do not know what the steel plate, see above, is for. Can someone tell me where it goes?

Not sure where that plate goes but that looks like polyurethane instead of rubber. Did you want poly? I used the locking style like Louie did as well.

Corvette Central is the place I'd go for either non-locking style ($15ea) or the locking style ($28ea).
