1963 Split Window Coupe Stolen in Florida
In the early morning hours of April 2, 2023, our 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe was stolen. It was parked in a fully enclosed, locked trailer in the backyard, 50' from the house. It is black in color, 4 speed trans, and all original except for after market wheels that were on it at the time. Non-A/C car, black interior. Has a New Jersey license plate on the car, and currently registered in New Jersey, having recently moved to Manatee Co. Florida. The Vette is in fully running driving condition. And I would call it "reference quality" as it is so original. Certainly not a nut and bolt restoration.
There are many indications that this was a professional job. Certainly heavily cased. Details that law enforcement wants kept quiet for the moment.
The car was in the trailer. The trailer had a very non-standard ball hitch, and the tongue lock was cut off while still in the yard. The thieves did not even raise the hitch lift until they hit the roadway, leaving a 50' gouge in the grass. There was no noise. 5 dogs in the surrounding houses, and not one barked. The trailer was found by the Manatee County Florida Sheriff's Dept, 3/4 of a mile from the house, left alongside the road...empty. At the point the 4-wheel trailer had one flat tire, the rear ramp lock was cut off, and the side door was beaten with a crowbar from the inside, as well as kicked. The door frame was broken. The tie down straps were cut.
Please keep an eye out for me, and let me know of any leads. Thank you in advance.

You may want to think about posting the VIN number. Man, this really sucks!!

That's scary. It doesn't seem whom ever it was would have been deterred if they were confronted by someone attempting to intervene.
Could have turned into a life or death situation. Here's hoping justice is served and you get your '63 SWC back.

If you could post some photos, it's easier to remember something you've seen than a written description. Please keep bringing this back up to the top of the messages. I hope like heck that those wretches get caught.

Damn....Unfoirtunately, I know exactly how you feel. Our '62 was stolen several years ago.
Saturate the media with pictures and a short message of it being stolen. Local news stations, radio, and internet! Car clubs, any upcoming swap meets. local corvette vendors and repair shops, etc. Contact State police as well in addition to the local LEO's you already have working on it.
Hate to say it, but many times it is stolen by someone who not only knew it was there but could possibly be stolen by someone you trusted as well. Somebody knows something somewhere, and it will be hard to keep that quiet.
Hoping the thieves suffer long and excruciating pain somewhere down the line.
Don't give up, it took us 13 days later to recover our '62.

Unfortunately since you are in an International coastal state it is likely already out to sea to a foreign buyer.

I hope you get the car back in the same condition it was stolen in, and the criminals get caught. Like others have said, put the story out as many places as you can think, even non car sites.
