Here is a 74 E Type that I restored that had a major engine bay fire. The entire bonnet was destroyed, anything alum, rubber, thin metal was melted. Forget about the wiring and the interior. Eventually I replaced everything. It certainly can be done. But fire and heat creep into every nook and cranny of the. Good luck with your project.

I would not worry about anything steel . It is all carbon free and heat will cause sag but that can be fixed . I hope you watch Midyear Mitch on youtube . He would take this on in a heartbeat . With enough time and money , anything can be fixed . I remember when Bob McDorman , Canal Winchester , Ohio , had a huge fire . He had one like this restored .Of course he was a millionare . He had his employees do the work and it came out great .I'm too old to even think about something like this . It will be a lot of fun for all to follow along here on the forum . Thanks for sharing , Bob

Around 2000' I bought a 61' that was burned from the dash forward. it actually had 2 fires. the first was a under hood fuel leak that was extinguished then an electrical fire that ensued, when the alternator wires shorted due to the first fire, while waiting for the tow truck. Once all the ugly was removed and the smell was gone it was just like repairing a wreck with a lot of damage. The finished vehicle won a best of show award at an all Corvette event in 2003'. Very doable if you have the skill set and time. Good luck whatever you decide.

I like the project - it'll be nice when done but you just threw us a curveball! Now we need pictures of the house!
I've done both - down to the bones restorations on both my house and some cars - minus the fire damage. Will be interesting to watch when you get to it.

"Am I crazy ?"... Yes, but are not we all?
When I take on a restoration/resurrection, I do it because I like the challenge. When I am done with it, I move on to another challenge, hardly ever driving the last one!

haha, crazy ... congrats with the two projects !
I build myself 4 houses in my life... always bigger and sold for a next project . Not that difficult compared cars , just simple , but bigger parts
Meanwhile i hated concrete smell so #5 and 6 i let i do ... but not so with oil&gas on my classic cars .

Roger , I know what you mean , I seem to like working on a project more than driving it . I promised wife after the 65 is on the road ,I'm done . It is complete , running and shifting fine .I always told her I had to get it completed in case something went wrong with me ,Too old to start another one , and am downsizing .LOL A project like Andy's is for the young man .

The link below may provide some inspiration for you. A friend of mine took on a similar burn project about 15 years ago and it came out beautiful. Admittedly, he owns a Corvette dealership and restoration business, and the car was a 65 fuelie in a rare color combination, but it can be done.

As to the yellow burned car, it's all in your mindset. If you want to fix it because you know you can and you would enjoy a yellow AC coupe than fix the car. If you think you will want to sell it after a while perhaps sell it now. If you think you will hold onto it (as I have all 9 since the beginning) than again, fix it. Unless you are in the business of fixing and rolling cars in which case this is a very different set of considerations, don't worry about what your estate will get for it when your gone. It doesn't matter.

When I see you asking about what needs to be done with a totally rusted distributor (pretty obvious) and then looking for used points and condenser makes me wonder if your rodeo experience was on a rocking horse ?
