”Hate for the 66?”

Never heard of it and I’m almost 72 and have owned 66 cars for 43 years minus one 3 yr time out. The most produced C2 - yes. And heard some say that makes them worth less? Maybe - but hate no. I don’t know how you equate the best sales year for C2s and the intro of the 427 and L72 with owner hate. Sounds like an oxymoron or comment from bizarro world to me.

Agree, best midyear if you ask me, has everything, to name a few: solid lifter special-high-performance 427, the best BB hood (both cosmetically and functionally/ventilation-air flow), the best interior (I personally didn’t care for the 63–64 cosmetics at all), knock off wheels available, teak wheel available, again just to name a few, I could go on ……. any “hate” is just based on, envy? from owners of lesser cars).

I love all midyears, but my two favorites have always been the 66 & 65 BB cars. Mainly for the hood which I prefer! Had my 66 at an All Corvette Show last summer with ~100 Corvettes, with 8 very nice C2's in attendance. 1st place trophy went to my Nassau Blue 66, 2nd place to a Black 66 and 3rd place to a Red 64. There were 65's and 67's in attendance of the 8 total too! Never been able to do very well on this forum though, as it took 3 years just to just reach the finalists. So was that because it's a 66 ???

There are plusses and minuses in just about every year, depending on your individual tastes. I fully understand the appeal and accomplishment of everything as it was made - no problem with those at all. But one thing I'm enjoying about my "mongrel" '64 is being able to combine different parts as I wish. For example, I really like the looks of the '67 ***** for headlights, wipers etc. So that's what mine will have. But I almost went with '66's instead.

I have never heard from anyone who "hates" 66's, but I have always wondered why 65's seemed to be worth more than 66's for many years. I have a 65 and I have several friends with 66's. To me they are the same car with the exception of obvious options. These days the values seem to be the same.

1966 was the only year I was looking for when I purchased mine. Mosport Green WITH the green interior was a must have. I think the green interior is sometimes overlooked because it's so uncommon in modern cars, that's EXACTLY why I wanted it. Classic cars had the best color combinations.

I swapped my green vinyl for leather by AK. Wouldn't change a thing.

The 64 and the 66 where considered the bastard years obviously that was a foolish thing that people thought but it was the way it was you could buy a 64 or a 66 for about 25% less than a 63, 65 or 67. So needless to say most of the Corvettes I bought back in those days where 64‘s and 66’s because that was the ones I could afford. Most people forget that 66 was in that category. Today most people realize they’re all good cars.
I was buying and selling classics from 1969-2010 with many midyears included in the mix. I never had the opportunity to buy a 64 or 66 for anywhere close to 25% less. Back in those early years 63 coupes, 65 and 67 were not held in MUCH more regard than any other midyear. 1964 model years weren’t really dissed like the were in later years. BTW, then or now I have never held a higher opinion of a 65 over a 66 which are as close to the same car as any midyear. Yes, the 65 was the last year for FI and the big block but I personally don’t believe that makes the model year any more desirable than a 66.

Drive it over to my place. I'll take care of that errand for you.

Send me your address, and I'll come haul that carcass away for you.

Just being neighborly, of course.

Live well,

Frankly, I am partial to the ‘64 Coupe.

The interior simply cannot be beat amongst the C2’s, not to mention the hood depressions left when the ‘cookie sheets’ were removed after the ‘63 model year.

Then again I am biased, having been together 53 years.

Is this another Pity Party ? I can never understand this. Looks like a support therapy session of piers and someone's regretful purchase.
"There There, your C2 is loved too"
In certainly... the General Public couldn't tell one year from the other. In reality... they envy everyone's owner. Dimensionally, C2 's are 98 % the same. Just Coupes and Convertibles .. there another debate. Forget what other owners think , enjoy the ride.

Everyone has their favorite, but no real Corvette guy would hate any C2. My favorite C2s as follows:

1. 67
2. 64 (especially like Saddle tan with tan and Daytona blue with white)
3. 65 & 66 (love Milano maroon and Mosport green)
4. 63 (especially silver, probably because the first advertisement for the 63 Sting Ray I ever saw was a silver coupe, made a big impression on a 14-year-old boy, never got over it)

Absolutely love them all.

Well, now that I know all this news, I guess I'll just have to "shxx-can" this old butt-ugly POS 64.....
