Six Tail Lights

Six taillights look best on side pipe cars. I'm not a huge fan of flares, but they look great on your black car, gives it a very tough look, almost sinister looking, love it. Very different vibe from my Sunfire coupe.

Here is an ad from 1982 for my 64 that I purchased a year ago. The owner claims all original and untouched.
If my old eyes don't deceive me I see three tail lights.

I personally like the 6 taillights look but I wouldn't cut up a nice original car to do it

I bought it this way, but think it’s cool. I consider it a part of the car’s heritage. I’ll be keeping the extra two lights for sure.

Thanks fellas for all those awesome pics ! Like Jack mentioned regarding " Jan & Dean" I like the look. It's on my early spring list of things to do for sure !
Much appreciated.

509.....I really do need to take some updated pics. But, since you asked for me to post some pics here's a few I have to date.
Body was CA flared with the hood way back in the 70's which is how I bought it in 2015. I added dual mirrors & Detroit Speed electric headlamp motors to get those louvers open.
It had a lazy 305 SBC with a beautiful Muncie. But I sold them together . I didn't go big like some of you fellas with just a BP 383 likely making 440-450hp / 460tq with a port matched Weiand dual plane, Holley 750DP, 1 5/8" primary headers, 2.5" pipes to the straight thru baffled mufflers, 3.70 rear.
I did the Hurst Driveline Tremec 600 conversion, with their tail mounted short throw shifter, single disc ram clutch, 2.97 first gear but what I love most about this conversion is the .064 OD for the highway.
My best mod was in 2020 to a new tach drive MSD dizzie with MSD 6AL. Now it starts instantly and pulls so much cleaner everywhere & is a real blast to drive. Timing uses the vacuum but with full advance at 2800-2900rpm. Nothing fancy here.....except thanks to all the great responses ....soon to have the Dead Man's Curve...Six Tail Lights !
Thanks again for all the advice !

My '64 when I bought it:
It's currently going back to two tail lights and having a flarectomy to make it more period correct for vintage racing. This car was raced by Dr. John Matthews in SW Region SCCA back in the day and did quite well, so there is some value to originality. But I suspect I'll miss the triples.
I'm buying the bean counter theory. When it comes to Chevies, triple tail lights indicates top-of-the-line (compare Bel-Air to Impala):

LEDs
Decided to install LED bulbs primarily to solve the fuel gauge fluctuations when the tail lights are all on with the incandescents. Yeah I know it's a renegade ground problem but I have tried everything to lock it down with no joy. The LEDs instantly solved it. Use less current, brighter and look awesome.

Burning Brakes
made a template from a valve cover gasket box and did 6 taillights on several Corvettes.
spring break, daytona beach.
road america 1963 june springs. 6 taillights on a c1.

Hey fellas....so I received my R/L Inner Tail Lights for the 6 light conversion . Project will soon be under way at a shop.
My car is in winter storage so my view beneath...especially with the mufflers..is limited. Do I see an inner panel behind the body fiberglass where 2 holes can be drilled to secure the mounts after the hole is cut in the body?
I'd like to give the shop what's needed beforehand. If I need to fabricate something similar to these dash gauge brackets to secure the lights against the fiberglass I'd like to do it now. It's too often the little things can stop a project right where we are lol.
