I like the cars but can stand to watch the TV shows. The drama and the seemingly token clueless sidekicks make it unbearable for me to watch.

Cash to burn so the kids don;t get it, I'd have two cars built by both dave and hayes.

A 62 and a 66. I'd give away the two I didn't like.

Granted, a 67 hood looks beautiful on a 67 but the 65 66 BB hood is so much more organic. You'd think hayes would have erased the back up lights onthe 67!
DAve must of had a brain fart when he ran that exhaust out the back of the red 62 restomod he did.

Most shocking is that Hayes looks like Dave's older, more conservative, twin brother!
Both cars are masterpieces.
66 is the zenith of the mid year series. Why the insanity about the 67?????? goofy back up lights, plastic console, no place for the girlfriend to siddle up to the driver with that plastic console and parking brake in the way. cheap looking heater control *****. I'd take a 67 any day, but jsut sayin......

Add rally wheels, script delete, and the fender vents, you have just named the things I love about a 67!

My job is engineering and development of concept cars, whatever they want, fully functional, custom chassis, always carbon fiber bodies, & complete vehicle development start to finish, so i really, really appreciate the process Kindig & the company he hired to make the bodies on the CF1 very much. Given its a much, much simpler method than we use, with a much smaller team & budget than we have but i think its just bad *** to see this kind of car creep into the public marketplace even if it is way out of most peoples budgets.

It's not often I can say anything about what I do, but I just love custom made cars. This carbon fiber body thing has a few classics including the charger. Cool time to me a gearhead in my opinion!

With the technology today, there is some pretty cool stuff coming out...... not sure if this is related to what you posted, but the below showed up to one of the Saturday car gatherings last summer..... If I recall correctly, a 2021 Dodge Challenger, with a new carbon fiber body.....

@Dad's '66 427 I think at the M1 Concours event at the Woodward dream cruise Dodge said they will offer the Carbon fiber body for sale to the public thru Mopar, which im sure its a lot of money, but when your looking at the cost of restoring an original body, verses brand new carbon fiber new technology, pretty cool stuff! We can all dream & appreciate & its good to see OEMs even showing interest in this sort of thing!! Where's the carbon fiber 69 camaro, or 70 Chevelle, GTO, Mustang, ect... I'm sure someone will be doing it eventually.

Building a car requires turning wrenches, welding priming and blocking. Having a car built using only your checkbook ain’t for me.

Building, modifying, and maintaining your car can be frustrating at times, but very rewarding. In the last 57 years the only time any of my C2s went to the shop is for tires or alignment. Like everyone here, I admire the skill and talent to build a high six figure car, but you aren't going to see it out and about. Let's face it, they are works of art and should be appreciated as such (and I do). As for my $70K C2, it's a common sight around here rain or shine.

Just throwing this in.
I will say that in the late sixties I thought that the Jaguar XKE convertible was one of the coolest and sexiest cars ever (and still do).
The problem was that especially then British cars were notoriously difficult to maintain and were unreliable.
At the time I believe there was (or were) companies that would replace the drivetrain with GM components so that you could drive these beauties with the reliability and easy upkeep of a Pontiac.
That is by definition a major mod but from a different angle and purpose.

I'm a design engineer. I likewise admire and respect the effort and talent it takes to make some of these cars that Kindig et al make, but the core engineer in me often asks, what's the point? As I said, I appreciate what it took to make a car body out of CF, but on a dust magnet/garage queen, what's the point? The car will look the same, and attract the same dust, if it was made of fiberglass. It's just different to be different. Just art.

Show me a 2400# aluminum frame, stock looking CF bodied C3, out on a track with a suspension built for handling, over bling, and you've got this engineer's attention.

Until then, those cars aren't my cup of tea.

Function V Form dictated by cost. Great cars have the Best of both. Most cars are a compromise between the 2. CF is a good choice because it is both strong and lightweight but is expensive.

I find it shocking that this car also built by Jeff Hayes didn't sell at Mecum a couple weeks ago at less than 1/2 the price of the BJ car. The Mecum car only got bid to $290,000 vs $700,000!
https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0123-54...rvette-custom/
Any input on the crazy $ difference?
I was also surprised that there wasn't more action on the Kindig car. I was expecting Craig Jackson to bid on it since it was the BJ edition!

I don't know about everything they did to each one, but I like the looks of the C2 the best, and I really like C1s. If I had a perfect car it would be a 67 big clock with sidepipes.

I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Jeff over the years selling at Barrett-Jackson, he was the visionary that defined the “Look” with his cars a few years ago and has been turning them out over and over. He builds a great car, and it’s funny how everyone has tried to copy his style expecting the same results but his cars are always going to bring the top number. I’ve also had the opportunity to get to hang out with Dave Kindig and seen many of his cars up close at Barrett and SEMA. I have to say hands down Kindig is the standard of excellence we all need to strive to achieve in build quality and originality. Dave’s CF1 is a beautiful car and they have put a ton of work in bringing them to market, they have all been stunning.

Rob,
Good to see you posting again. You, along with Ken Sungela, Mike Colletta, Chris Sherman are my "car building" idols. Your perspective on these two builds are spot on.

Good to hear from you! You are too kind, we have been working on tons of other non-Corvette projects which have been fun and challenging, I have missed posting and plan to try and keep everyone updated on the progress. I'm also about to get started on a widebody split window for me with a Roadster Shop Chassis.

As much as i appreciate seeing the custom shops doing their thing, i really like to see the privateeer guys on this forum doing their own cars!

I wanted so bad to go full on resto-mod with mine when I did my frame off, but I also didn't want to have the car down for the ammount of time it would have taken me to do this. That's what your paying for, that knowledge & experience, plus their time & labor. There's nothing that says you cant build your dream C2 & drive it all the time too. Why bother if your aren't gonna drive it?
