Default What is the recommendation to cover those unsightly holes in the engine bay

Plan on doing an engine bay cleaning detail this Spring.
But, first want to cover up the unwanted holes on the firewall and engine bay this Winter.
What is the best way to cover-up the holes?

there should be no holes, and if there was it was for a configuration your car doesn't have and would have been filled with a plastic plug

Cheapest solution is to close the hood

But, I may have other suggestions if I could see the holes you want covered up

Default Holes

Grind around them then apply glass mat. Smooth off and paint over. I used flat black lacquer in spray can

I'm looking for a fast easy method not using glass or bondo.

A fast and easy method would be black oxide sheet metal screws

Put a flat head metal screw or acorn headed hex drive screw into the holes and paint them black.

How many holes? How big are they? The black caulk by 3m is a good temporary option. What's the ultimate goal? Photos of what we are working with may help.

adhesin might be a problem. long and short term. strip caulk will fill the hole and you can clean it up so it's only in the hole and will stay put

Sure but you can buy an entire quick-repair kit (second roll of tape) for nearly nothing, almost anywhere!

Now to be serious, on a resto-mod I don't imagine strip caulk would be the look the owner is after. My money would be on slicker, cleaner installation. A black oxide SHCS with a cap protector on the end is cheap cheery and neat, and can be removed in favor of something else easily and completely in seconds.

But if we could see just where the holes were, we could even suggest creative solutions as to making the holes have a reason for being, perhaps even a useful function so instead of needing concealment, they would be serving a function. But they are shrouded in the darkest vapors of mystery...

Any decent 2 part epoxy will do it for screw holes.
Mix some up but wait a little while so the mixture is starting to tighten before filling the holes. If you do it this way it wont sag out.
You can also fill the holes with the mix right away but then cover it with a piece of blue painters tape to prevent sag out. Once hardened remove tape then spray some black satin / flat into the rattle can cap and touch up the repairs with an artist paint brush or Q-tip.

This is what I would do. Roll a small ball of black 3M strip caulk and press into the hole to fill i and dress the top in whatever you think looks best. - like a small cone nib or flush. It should blend in if you have a semi- flat paint in there.
