Does this look like a counterfeit stamp pad
I appreciate this forum very much and first time poster. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and responses.
The car is presented as matching numbers but I've never seen an example of serial stamp that looks like this one with "S" in it.
1967 Convertible VIN 194677S116645
Tim Tag I06
Style 67 467
Trim 450
Body A-2877
Paint 976
Block Cast 3892657
Block cast date: Unknown
Stamp Pad 7S116645 V0512HE
Photos attached.

As counterfeit stamp pads base 300 are low on the list to be suspect of. But with a low quality small picture of a painted pad no one is going to be able to wager a good guess Being a Marina blue with white and black interior is known to be faked though

The S in the partial V.I.N. stands for St Louis where the car was manufactured.

Looks like someone stamped the engine pad with the transmission stamp. The S, while it's true is for St Louis, shouldn't be on the engine pad.
The "S" is stamped on the transmission in the same format, though.

It's not hard to see the S that shouldn't be there. Also the approximate birthday of the car is Apr 19th and the engine stamp is May 12th, so it's not looking good even without looking for fonts and broach marks. The body build date is April 6th and the approx car build is Apr 19th, that excludes the May 12th motor to me. (though strange things can happen at the factory and in the 55 years since)

Even though you can't see that it is definitely an S, (I took his word for it), you can clearly see that the first number after the 7 is not a 1 as it should be on all 67's no matter what the vin.

I am pretty sure that the stamp is not the one it was born with in St. Louis.

Not a factory stamp, but that doesn't mean it's not "matching numbers".

Thank you all very much for your help. I think I'll pass on this car, the rebuild is beautiful and looks to be done at a very high standard but I think there is enough question about the matching numbers to pass for me. I excited to find the right car and be a part of the community as a fellow owner, but for now the search will go on.
There is a lot of knowledge here and you are all very kind to share it!
