ncrs worst nightmare ....
,.. third post in 17 years;; some photos at local sunday evening car meet. i park around back, to avoid the trailer queens. some info on car, body off 40 yrs ago., it got a f 41 suspension which lowered frame to ground almost an inch, then '69 mounts which raised body & allowed bigger tires & still normal height. motor got bal/blu, hy/rev hyd. cam, '61 vette heads with 64cc & installed bigger 202 valves, 10.5 jahns pistons (.30 over) & deck milled & with almost 11/1., bb clutch, mallory unilite & hy-fire ignition,18 advance with 38 total timing & autolite plugs gapped at .038. holley/fram pump & filter in back with no mechanical pump & fan on engine. holds about 15 vacuum for fuel injection, no choke, moved air filter back about half inch cause i like a nice straight rubber flex piece, single wire alternator, lost the bumpers & brackets & spare to lower weight, handles good, just wish i had better tires, ( high dollar ones to sit in garage are not my idea of fun). use to run turbo blue, now just sunoco or shell, no problem with hot fuel cause no splash shields & i run with hood unlatched (lots of air moving). fuel injection runs good,& you got to have the right air cleaner to get good cool air. obviously, no p-brake. so,,.. i have forgotten a few things, but there is always someone who is just a little faster;;.. this car will haul *** if ya' got nerve, but i have mellowed out now & wiser,,, but i can keep up with them for a while.. several years ago, on a sunday afternoon drive,, i left the locals behind,,, eight miles ahead of them i topped a hill on a two lane road at over 125__ straight into a road block. also; .. i installed a '67 master cylinder years back & sure needed it then. it was a crappy end to a nice day....... and my wife can verify that.............

It's your car and there's no judging unless you want it judged. Lots of us have cars which are far from what left the factory. NCRS seems to do a wonderful job of assembling and recording the history of these cars, but they'd need a "below zero" scorecard for some of us .
Actually, you ARE the worst nightmare for somebody out there. The driveway to our place in the country is also just over the crest of a hill. Pulling out from dirt/stone driveway is a very vulnerable time. We often hear bikes and sometimes cars go by screaming and shudder to think what would have happened if we had been pulling out at that moment. You might want to picture the consequences of that type of driving before your luck runs out. And lest you think I'm an uptight a$$hole, I will state that at age 19 or so I did exactly that same type of stuff myself, so many times it's a wonder I didn't cause a tragedy. Fortunately I lived long enough to start looking at things differtently.

NCRS does have a class for that and would welcome it at any show.

NCRS Worst Nightmare…. This caught my eye this morning and brought back fond memories of my late father. My dad restored a 1961 corvette many years ago very nice and stock in appearance. He hated the four-wheel drum brakes and suspension. He converted it to a SRIII tube frame with a C4 suspension. He had several purist over the years say too bad he ruined a nice 1961 corvette, No joke. As a result he got personalized plates that said NO NCRS on his 61.

When you’re young, mortality is not something you give second thought to.
Several times week, I sit waiting at the intersection of my road with a state highway, watching young drivers round the blind curve adjacent that 55 MPH intersection at 30 or 40 MPH over the limit, with only my extreme vigilance helping me narrowly avoid pulling out into their high speed path. Each time I hope I won’t meet one going even faster, with disastrous results.
A blind hill is just as bad, 125 belongs on a race track, not a narrow highway. They’ll find you, your Corvette, and who ever blunders into the path of your 183 feet per second bullet, spread over a tenth of a mile in little pieces.

2 buds on bikes on separate occasions topped a hill at speed to find a car stopped, waiting to turn into a driveway. Both cases same scenario, hit the stopped car, thrown into the other lane, run over by a car. In one case it was a corvette. That was in rockland county NY, the other on rt 519 in hunterdon county. both a bunch of years ago. Sometimes the angels are paying attention, sometimes they are distracted helping others, and you are on your own.

This is true, BUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, in earlier years, NCRS was somewhat ugly to non correct cars/owners, and a LOT of Corvette owners/fans were turned off and turned away. As a result, that stigma still exists today. And for the most part, NCRS people are in total denial of this, but regardless, a LARGE portion of the car hobby population have a dislike for Corvette folks. I don't think NCRS will ever be able to overcome this negativity------------------------------------I know I won't. When I got the 56 back in 1973 and did the equivalent of a frame off, but with many personalized upgrades, the NCRS community were somewhat-----------how shall I express it-----------------aholes.
Today, even with NCRS's inclusion of, and recognition of, non correct cars, I sometimes detect an air of snobbery. There are still remnants of the "Old Guard" within NCRS. I've been a member since 1978, but I do not participate much.
But at least, Zora liked it.

I think many have read it carefully, 125 mph on a 2 lane road and the crest of a hill. How many years are "several"? That could mean 2 years. There was no mention of youth either, so that's an assumption.

tbied2,
What a really cool car. It looks, sits and has all the making of a infamous classic. Super great car; I mean it. I have a "Resto-mod" and believe yours is a predecessor. However, I also like stock cars. And, I might drive a hundred and twenty five mph today, if the time were right....maybe while I go get my drive-through flu-covid shot. Hold my beer....surely there aren't many folks on this forum, less that 23 years of age, who need a "lesson" on how and when to drive fast (oh, except maybe me, and I don't "imagine" [as we'd have said in NC when I was a kid] I'd listen)….
